You’ve heard of or have even worked with IoT devices before. But have you ever heard of IoT devices that are close to half a kilometer long, weigh 300,000 metric tons and float around in the middle of the Pacific Ocean?
Well, we are lucky enough to work with these floating mega devices! We are even more fortunate to be tackling one of the most pressing issues in the world today….global warming.
But how do you mix large IoT devices with global warming?
Glad you asked! Shipping contributes to 3% of global CO2 emissions, and Maersk, as the world’s leading shipping company, has a large responsibility to tackle this issue and drive the industry towards solutions. Each decision starts with data and knowing our vessels’ data is part of our mission.
Our product called StarConnect, and as a member one of the 8 scrum teams you will contribute to tackling the carbon pollution issue by using technology.
We are looking for a Senior Frontend Software Engineer for our Vessel and Fleet Voyage team. The team handles making fuel optimized, safe, and real time updated passage plans for the ships. This means that we are setting up to build Google Maps for the sea, and, it’s even more complex, with endless routes in the vastness oceans.
Key responsibilities
- Work in collaboration with the Lead Software Engineer to create world class software
- Focus your coding skills into building features and exploring new optimized ways to solve tasks.
- Operate in a scrum team with a dedicated platform product owner, independently directing your time and resources together with other software engineers.
- Take on the responsibility for our frontend, keeping it up to date, secure and perfected.
We are looking for
- At least 5+ years working with leading frontend tech stacks. Preferable Web Components. Working on mid to large scale applications. Software development patterns etc.
- Solid experience working with cloud applications – Kubernetes, docker, writing and supporting CI/CD pipelines, Azure services and architecture, GitHub actions etc.
- Proven experience with the senior role, supplying mentoring for team members and executing own initiatives.
