You will be exposed to a wide and challenging range of business issues through regular engagement with key stakeholders across all management levels within Maersk.

You will work in the Plan and Book Technology area of the Business Enabling platform. In our inventory control department, we develop applications for our internal customers to allow best use of our inventory like vessels regarding demand in the sense of booking requests and fulfillment in the sense of providing but not over-allocating the given capacity. In the future it is also foreseen to include other inventory like airplanes or warehouses. To continue our digital transformation, we need you as a UX researcher.

Key responsibilities

As a UX researcher, you work across the design cycle, by generating a detailed understanding of user needs, creating conceptual and detailed designs, and validating them.

Your daily work includes working on one or more applications within the Business Enabling platform. Together with a cross-disciplinary team of Product Owners, UI Developers, and Software Engineers, you’ll work to create the necessary applications for optimizing the inventory in the sense of capacity utilization. You will work on the appropriate design tasks, research, wireframes, and validation, but also play a crucial part in challenging and refining the scope and functionality of the applications.

You will work closely with fellow UX researchers and designers split across 3 geographical locations to ensure consistency across the applications in the Business Enabling platform, and we want you to provide and solicit feedback on the designs.

In short, we are looking for someone who wants to:

  • Focus on conducting project-based research, including explorative field research, usability tests, user interviews, and short surveys
  • Collaborate with key partners and stakeholders to define research objectives, create research proposals and plans, manage and conduct studies, and deliver insights and recommendations
  • Synthesize and communicate research findings and recommendations to project teams and leadership
  • Participating in design thinking based-sessions and conducting the user research
  • Design studies that address both user behavior and attitudes.
  • Generate insights that both fuel ideation and evaluate designs.
  • Conduct research using a wide variety of qualitative methods, subset of quantitative methods (i.e. surveys), and interpret analysis through the lens of UX, HCI, and social science.
  • Work cross-functionally with design, product management, strategy, engineering and marketing.
  • Partner with engineers, analysts, and other technical roles to create and share research.
  • Adapt and lead research practices to meet team needs under the tight timeframes of rapid growth

To do this job, we imagine you have the following qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience conducting research within a product organization, in-house or at an agency
  • B.A/B.S. in Anthropology, Psychology, Social Science or a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Proven track record presenting qualitative narratives supported by quantitative learnings
  • Command of a set of qualitative and user-centered design methods
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and conduct research in close collaboration with people in a variety of roles, including design, engineering, and product management
  • Knowledge of quantitative, behavioral analysis, and statistical concepts
  • Experience with survey research (questionnaire design, sampling, analysis)
  • Ability to ask, as well as answer, meaningful and impactful questions
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong listening, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Willingness to take initiative and be proactive
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
