Opportunity


As Senior HR Manager for APM Terminals Nordics, you will partner with the Managing Director for Nordics and the Nordics Management Team (NMT) on strategic people, business and transformation decisions that impact our people, customers and communities.

You will be responsible for translating our business strategy and transformation into a people agenda and plan, and ensuring that we value, care for and grow our people in every decision, action and engagement.

You will benefit from intense developmental stretch, gaining in-depth insights into our business and continuing to advance your strategic thinking, leadership, change and stakeholder management and HR toolkit.

You will build a broad network and lasting partnerships with diverse stakeholders and colleagues within Nordics, as well as across
APM Terminals and Maersk globally.

You will report to the Regional Head of HR Business Partnering, Africa & Europe, based in The Hague, Netherlands, with dotted line reporting to the Managing Director, Nordics, based in Copenhagen.

Nordics consists of terminals in Aarhus and Kalundborg in Denmark, and Gothenburg in Sweden. We have a preference for the position to be based in Aarhus, and can be flexible for the position to be based in Copenhagen or Gothenburg.

Regardless of base, we require ongoing presence and engagement across all terminals, and the individual thus should expect to be in Aarhus and Gothenburg on a regular basis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As Senior HR Manager, you will be responsible for setting and executing on the Nordics people agenda and plan, ensuring shorter and longer-term people and business outcomes. You will have the following accountabilities, amongst others:

HR Business Partnering

  • Be a trusted partner to the Managing Director and NMT, translating global, regional and local business and transformation needs into a local people agenda and plan, and ensuring that we take into account people in every decision and action.

  • Be accountable for the Nordics people agenda, plan and execution, including required transformation and optimisation of culture; belonging; organisation and capabilities; talent acquisition, engagement, retention and succession; performance management; learning & development and leadership.

  • As the most senior HR on site, be overall owner for the effectiveness and quality of HR services, engaging and connecting with relevant individuals and teams in our HR Business Partnering and People Partnering organisations on an ongoing basis to ensure that we offer solutions to meet people and business needs, and deliver as one team.

  • Lead three direct reports: HR Business Partner in Aarhus, Employee Relations Partner in Aarhus and Employee Relations Partner in Gothenburg.


Transformation

  • Ensure successful planning, implementation and sustainability of global and regional HR standards, frameworks, methodologies, processes and technology, including required transformation.

  • Leverage matrix opportunities, collaborating closely with terminal, regional and global teams across functions to achieve the company strategy and goals together.

  • Set local guidance and standards as needed, taking into account global direction and scalability.

  • Share local insights and practices with global and regional stakeholders, to enable effective decisions.

  • Lead and role model innovation and transformation, including mindsets, capabilities and behaviours.


Leadership

  • Be a role model and representative for Nordics, and a critical member of the NMT, actively contributing to defining and executing on the local strategy and daily running of business, as well as transformation initiatives that impact people. Ensure strategic, enterprise and cross-functional leadership of the business.

  • Be a critical member of the global, regional and local HR community, leveraging and sharing opportunities, practices and learnings across the organisation.

  • Foster an environment that is supportive of open communication and dialogue, sparring and learning and development, to ensure that we leverage all brains and hearts in the game.

  • Coach and develop direct reports for immediate and longer-term success and growth, including career progression and succession.

  • Lead and role model Maersk culture and values, including compliance with policies and standards.


WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We seek an individual with the following proven experience:

  • Has minimum five years’ experience in a senior strategic HR role, in a global matrix organisation with successful and ongoing change and transformation. Leadership of a team is an advantage.

  • Is exceptional in partnering with and influencing senior stakeholders as a trusted advisor, conceptualising and shaping strategies, challenging perceptions and expanding points of view.

  • Has a strategic mindset and problem-solving capabilities, with proven experience anticipating and interpreting people and business needs, analysing and finding solutions to complex issues, setting a strategy and making decisions based on data and ensuring effective and quality planning and execution. Is pragmatic and solution-oriented.

  • Has a robust HR toolkit, including with Employee Relations and frontline employees, building trust and partnership with employee representative bodies to achieve mutually beneficial shorter- and longer-term goals.

  • Is self-motivated with high ownership, initiative and drive, adept with prioritising and managing multiple initiatives and requests at the same time and at a consistently high quality.

  • Thrives in a global matrix organisation, adeptly connecting opportunities and navigating across functions and teams; managing global, regional and local requirements and building rapport and relationships at all levels.

  • Has excellent interpersonal skills and stakeholder management, with high integrity, empathy and discretion, and the ability to influence others to deliver results.

  • Is an exceptional leader who can inspire, engage and influence diverse people and capabilities to achieve extraordinary results. Achieves outcomes in collaboration with own and up/downstream teams. Is passionate about and excels in growing and developing people.

  • Exemplifies resilience, balance and maturity in dealing with change and uncertainty, and supports others to excel with delivering results together in challenging conditions. Embraces and sees the opportunities in change and challenges, pivoting quickly to come up with practical solutions and engage people.

  • Is committed to lifelong learning for self and others, continuously rethinking how we can improve. Keeps up to date on relevant trends and innovations, to enable thought-provoking insights and sparring.

  • Has a deep passion and curiousity for learning about our people, customers and business. Business acumen, including understanding of logistics, terminal, transport and shipping is an advantage.

  • Fluency in English and either/both Danish and Swedish is required.
