GIS Manager in Europe for leading solar energy company

Provide GIS insights for the acquisition and development of suitable land for utility scale solar parks

Greengo Energy constructs utility scale solar parks for institutional investors in Northern Europe and the US. Greengo Energy is a rapidly growing company with currently app. 65 employees with 40 of them in Denmark. As GIS Manager you lead a team in Denmark, Sweden and Germany whose responsibility it is to provide accurate and comprehensive GIS information for the acquisition and development of suitable land for large solar parks. Drive and develop the GIS team in Europe

The GreenGo Energy business model encompasses the acquisition and development (obtain all permits to construct large scale solar parks) of land, financing through institutional investors and the construction of the solar parks including procurement of all equipment and parts for the parks. A major part of the success of Greengo Energy is to understand all risks and opportunities of the land the company is targeting. The overall responsibility for the GIS team is to obtain the relevant layers to maximize the knowledge of key parameters relevant to the development and construction of the solar project (environmental, geographical, administrative, and other constraints). The team consists of four technical GIS Specialists and the daily tasks of the team consists of:

• In cooperation with the Development, Permitting and Grid Managers support the land origination activities by conducting desktop analysis to identify and pre-quality sites to orient Land Developers towards future new projects (“Prospects”). Develop more automated tools and algorithms to enhance the efficiency of this process
• Create the projects in GreenGo GIS platform (ArcGis) as per indicated by Land Developers, to reflect parcels for which Site Control is in process or being achieved
• Provide constraint maps and spreadsheet specific to each project to the Design and Engineering Team to enable the quality of the design and optimisation of the project
• Contribute to the risk analysis conducted for Prospects as per defined by the Lease Agreement roadmap
• Participation to Project Team meetings and internal Validation and Steering Committees, coordination and execution of GIS tasks, deliverables, and activities to be performed by the GIS Team
• Maintain the GIS platform permanently updated to reflect the changes occurring on the projects
• Contribution to continuous improvement initiatives, including standardisation of GIS tools and processes in joint effort with the US GIS Team, and the Development Team
• Build up the GIS databases specific to each EU country GGE is active in
• Contribute to the creation of the PDRs (Project Description Reviews) that are elaborated for presentation to investors and management.

You will be part of the Danish leadership team and you report to the VP Development. The role is based at the Danish HQ in Vedbæk.

Hands on technical GIS team-leader

You have at least 10 years’ experience working technically and analytically with GIS data and systems – at least part of this related to development of land with the purpose to build infrastructure, energy, industrial complexes, residential areas or similar. If you have leadership experience it is an advantage but not a requirement.

Further you possess the following skills and personal traits:

• With your structured, systematic and organized personality you are able to keep an overview of all projects and deliveries
• With your self-starting, self-motivated and development-oriented attitude you drive the continuous improvement of GIS function in GreenGo Energy
• You thrive with a high work pace and enjoy co-creation with your colleges
• You possess a very strong command of Danish and English in speak and in writing

Furthermore, to tab into the massively increasing appetite in renewable assets among institutional investors, i.e. infrastructure funds, renewable funds, pension funds etc.

This zero subsidy paradigm, essential for developing a sustainable and fully scalable growth platform, is well aligned with GreenGo’s highly scalable business model.
