Dedicated and self-driven individuals are invited to apply for the role as student employee in Market Risk Models at Nordea, Copenhagen.

Risk Models is a cross-disciplinary unit of highly skilled individuals responsible for development, refinement, and maintenance of Nordea’s internal risk models for Counterparty Credit, Market, and Credit Risk. Current focus lies on productionising Nordea’s internal models for the three risk disciplines. Market Risk Models is a team within Risk Models with focus on market risk models.

Risk Models is playing the key role in supporting adequate risk management through regulatory compliant models while enabling prudent business. To perform this role, team members have close ties to both front office traders and modellers, risk controllers performing daily validation of model output, and IT developers responsible for implementing our models in Nordea’s production systems. The team’s objective is to build and embed modular software solutions into the peripheral IT infrastructure, covering the whole production flow – from sourcing and analysing market data to the aggregation of risk measures.

Risk Models is recognised for its professionalism, high competence and capacity. Together with your teammates and colleagues, you will shape the future of risk modelling at Nordea.

What you'll be doing:

Welcome to a team of highly qualified, innovative and high performing passionate colleagues that have a strong drive to develop new risk models.
Who you are
Naturally, you take ownership of your work and Risk Models’ mission, are dedicated to deliver with quality and on time. You are self-organised and able to work independently if required while being able to integrate well with the team. Overall dedication and willingness to work in an international team is essential. You enjoy contributing to cross-disciplinary projects and liaise proactively with stakeholders across the full organisation.

You communicate efficiently and clearly on any level and to any audience: From day-to-day email exchanges with colleagues to conference-style presentations to external stakeholders, e.g. regulatory bodies. You acknowledge that writing technical model documentation is yet another form of communication.

You are a team player with “can do” attitude and strong networking skills. Moreover, you strive to develop professionally and stay curious on that journey.

Your professional profile
You are studying mathematical finance or similar, and are currently on your 3rd year or further. You possess the mathematical understanding to develop and further advance Nordea’s risk models in cooperation with your team members. Furthermore, you are interested in improving your programming skills, letting you swiftly transform a paper model into a software product. The team develops mostly in Python which interfaces with front office IT infrastructure, however a background in other programming languages is advantageous.
A good understanding of general risk modelling concepts is desirable – including front office valuation models as part of the risk calculation engine. You possess mathematical intuition with a sound theoretical basis, while being sufficiently hands-on to keep up with the development of Nordea’s technology stack.
If this sounds like you, we would like to get to know you better!
Next steps

Please submit your application as soon as possible and no later than 12/05/2023. Interviews will be held continuously.
For more information, you’re welcome to contact Head of Market Risk Models, Cristian Eric Iorizzo, [email protected].
At Nordea, we recruit from the widest possible pool and hire the best person for the job. Because diversity makes us stronger. And once you are on board, you will find that we offer equal opportunities to everyone.
