The position As Expert Scientific Solution Architect, you will be responsible for defining architecture visions and executing their implementation through scoping and technical design of highly complex scientific applications supporting key scientific capabilities in Novo Nordisk such as Disease Understanding, Lead Identification/Optimisation, or Laboratory Automation. You will lead the overall architecture design of scientific applications across multiple product teams each consisting of 5-10 members.
In this position, you will operate with high independence and act as the primary expert within own field and scope. You will lead and complete highly complex tasks with no or minimum supervision.
Your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Driving the articulation of architecture visions and roadmaps within the R&ED domain. Planning, definition, and high-level design of the solutions and exploration of solution alternatives (upgrades, updates, and new features). Work closely with external stakeholders (and other architects such as Solutions Architects and Domain Architects) to understand solution alternatives and possibilities. Scope and develop proof of concepts to demonstrate feasibility of new technical solutions Collaborating closely with scientific leads and SMEs to define relevant and effective solutions to scientific use cases and requirements from R&ED. Assessing technical solutions and recommending a strategy for buy vs build Aligning IT strategy with research needs and recommend mitigation actions. Staying current on technology trends such as modern data platforms, high-performance computing, and infrastructure as code, and communicating their value and applicability within scientific research. Represent Novo Nordisk in conferences, industry working groups, and author or contribute to publications in relevant scientific journals. Qualifications To succeed in this role, you should have: Preferable MSc or Ph.D. in life science or computer science, and at least 10 years of experience within the biotech or pharma R&D. Strong knowledge of scientific applications such as ELN, Registration, and LIMS. Demonstrated experience leading the design and implementation of scientific applications. Experience with enterprise integration patterns, and architectures that enable highly automated laboratory workflows. Previously worked as senior/lead software engineer, or have the ability to demonstrate hands on work developing software products. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to maintain state-of-the-art competences and know-how within the field of expertise. Anticipates internal and/or external business challenges and issues; recommends process, product, or service improvements. Contributes to the development of functional strategy. About the department

DMI is responsible for providing scientific data and software products to support the global research and early development organisation at Novo Nordisk. Our work spans driving digitalisation of laboratories, enabling scientific data capture, creating harmonized data for analytics, and providing informatics tools. We enable disruptive innovation and data driven decision making across areas that include disease understanding, molecular design, portfolio management and external scouting.
