About the department You will become part of our DDIT-RED Architecture & Sandbox department located in Måløv, Denmark. The department currently consists of 7 architects and is building up additional capabilities and capacity. The department is part of Research & Early Development IT, which consists of more than 105 skilled colleagues located in Måløv, Bangalore, Boston, Seattle, Beijing, and Oxford. We are responsible for major IT systems and projects in Novo Nordisk, as well as the scientific IT infrastructure in Research & Early Development. We constantly deliver the great IT solutions that our scientists in R&ED need in order to drive the revolution of drug development. About the position The Information Architect for the R&ED division plays a pivotal role in designing and optimizing the information management systems, information models and processes within the pharmaceutical research environment for our colleagues together with Engineering and Scientific Architecture teams. As an Information Architect, you will be responsible for analyzing complex data requirements, defining information models, and implementing strategies to enhance data integrity, accessibility, and usability (applying FAIR principles). Working closely with stakeholders from the R&ED division, you will ensure that information architecture supports efficient and effective data-driven decision-making processes. Responsibilities

Some of your core responsibilities would be:
  • Information Architecture Design: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand, help define and design information architecture frameworks, data models, living data contracts and taxonomies to facilitate data integration, retrieval, and analysis.
  • Data Governance and Management: Develop / adhere and implement data governance policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and data integrity standards in close alignment with our DD&IT Global Data Office.
  • Design strategies and mechanisms for integrating diverse data sources, including clinical trial data, genomic data, chemical compound data, and research literature etc. while ensuring the interoperability and identity of data.
  • Help in standardizing the data visualization techniques, and intuitive navigation structures to support efficient data exploration and analysis.
  • Collaborate with security and central compliance teams to implement appropriate data security measures, ensuring adherence to data privacy regulations, such as GDPR. Develop processes to identify and address data privacy risks and vulnerabilities within the information architecture.
  • Stay focused on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in information architecture and data management within the pharmaceutical R&D domain.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive living documentation and process for other Solution or Scientific Architects, to maintain the models. Impart training and workshops to educate stakeholders and users of Information models on best practices related to data management, information retrieval, and system usage.


    • The skills we hope to see You find it important to ensure stable platforms and applications for our researchers, and at the same time you are excited to work with new technologies and can quickly learn new concepts. You are curious and enjoy engaging with various stakeholders across DD&IT and Research organization. In addition to this, the ideal candidate will have previous experience with the following:
  • Proven experience (5+ years) as an Information- or Data Architect within large matrix organization.
  • Experience with data integration, interoperability, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools, database technologies, and information retrieval techniques.
  • Understanding of data security and privacy regulations, such as HIPAA and GDPR.
  • Experience from AWS or Azure.
  • Detail-oriented mindset and a commitment to data quality and integrity.
  • Lastly, excellent communication skills. You should be confident and assertive in managing stakeholders (researchers).
