Grid Integration Analyst to support with complex modelling for renewable energy projects

Do you have a background in Electrical Engineering and would like to join a green company with an important agenda? We are looking for our new Grid Integration Analyst, where you will support the core business with complex modelling and compliant design optimization for our large pipeline of renewable energy projects.

European Energy is a green company in exponential growth. We develop, construct, and operate projects within solar- (PV) and wind farms globally, as well as Power-to-X. Our six core values are the foundation of everything we do: In it together, Trust and courage, Ambition, Excitement, Inclusion, and Agility.

Your new department

As our new Grid Integration Analyst, you will be part of our EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) department which handles all the engineering activities of European Energy. Among these are ensuring grid connection agreements, providing grid compliant park design, optimizing park designs and achieving the final permits for power generation, that enables the parks to create green power and value.

The Grid Integration team is one of seven sub teams in EPC and consists of six colleagues located in Denmark, one located in Italy, and (soon) one located in Lithuania. The increased number of projects requires a higher number of colleagues to lift the tasks at hand and therefore, we are looking for the next colleague to the team.

Your new role

As our new Grid Integration Analyst, you will become a part of an expert environment working with grid integration. You will be responsible for developing advanced simulation models required for obtaining the grid connection permit. Thereby, you will be ensuring the technical documentation required across our core markets, to obtain the final grid connection permits (EON/ION/FON) for our wind and solar PV farms. You will have an interface internally to various colleagues across departments and externally in relation to TSOs, DSOs, and consultants who assist on different matters.

Responsibilities

  • You will ensure the technical documentation required to obtain the final grid connection permits (EON/ION/FON) for our wind and solar PV parks
  • You will develop advanced simulation models of our wind and solar farms in PowerFactory and PSCAD, which is required for the grid connection permit. This includes Harmonic-, steady-state-, Dynamic- and Transient simulation models
  • You will provide important knowledge for the optimization of our park designs
  • You will optimize the production of simulation models, with scripting and to some extent automatize the simulation reports
  • You will analyze the technical requirements for network connections in existing and new markets, to ensure that park designs are compliant with the local requirements
  • You will collaborate with European Energy's Innovation team on combined technologies: PV/Wind/Batteries/PtX, Ancillary services (system services) etc. in terms of minimizing costs and increasing the yield of the combined plants

Prerequisites to succeed in the position

  • You have at least 3-5 years relevant professional experience within distribution and transmission systems regarding: Grid connection studies (mathematical modelling of PV and wind plants) to ensure compliance with requirements for grid connection, grid analysis, planning, optimization, and design
  • You have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering
  • You have experience working with PowerFactory and PSCAD. Knowledge of PSS/E would also be beneficial
  • You are experienced with programming in Python or similar coding language
  • You are fully proficient in English

As a person, you are a team player with solid interpersonal and communication skills. You are highly motivated to work in the renewable energy sector and you have a systematic approach to solving tasks.

With us you get

  • You will be part of an exponential growth adventure in an international company. We welcomed over 200 new colleagues in 2022 and with more than 30 nationalities represented in our HQ office you will hear a lot of different languages when you walk down the hallways
  • Knowledge sharing is important for us. We start every Monday with our global weekly morning meeting. Here the executive management and departments give us an update on projects and current focus areas
  • You will have ample opportunity to engage socially across the departments. We have a monthly Friday event, free gym in the basement, squash court, as well as sport events such as running club, football club, and mountain bike
  • We have an annual company trip where all colleagues globally meet for teambuilding and to create lasting memories together
