Svitzer is a leading Global Towage Operator providing towage and sustainable marine solutions to make ports and terminals safer, more efficient and more climate friendly. We have customers in 30+ countries and more than 130 ports across four Regions: Australia, AMEA, Europe and America.

In recent years, we have grown through new contracts and acquisitions, and growing continues to be a focus. Our standard marine services remain critical to us, and at the same time we are implementing our new Strategy, which prioritises Sustainable Marine Operations, Decarbonization and Technology.

We operate globally 24/7, which means that things rarely stand still. However, we are good at manoeuvring being busy, as we enjoy working as a team by listening to and helping each other.

We offer

As a Sustainable Procurement Manager at Svitzer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our sustainable future and contribute to Svitzer’s continuous success. Svitzer is committed to integrating ethical, social and environmental business standards into our procurement processes.

You will lead the development and implementation of ESG-related initiatives in our supply chains and drive best practices for sustainable procurement across all procurement categories and geographies in Svitzer. Your expertise will be instrumental in aligning our operations with our ambition to achieve fully carbon neutral operations by 2040.

The position as Sustainable Procurement Manager reports to the Head of Group Procurement and is located at our head office in Nordhavn, Copenhagen. Key responsibilities

The key responsibilities include:

  • Procurement Leadership: Act as the main procurement focal point for the company's Global ESG priorities within the supply chain, ensuring sustainable practices are integrated into procurement processes.
  • ESG Roadmap Development: Design, develop, and implement a comprehensive supply chain roadmap for global ESG priorities in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Supplier Sustainability Assessment: Manage global supplier sustainability assessment tools, screening, evaluating and following up on suppliers’ performance.
  • Collaborative Improvements: Drive improvement initiatives in collaboration with regional procurement teams and internal stakeholders, ensuring consistent implementation of sustainable practices across regions.
  • Performance Tracking: Establish and implement relevant principles, processes, metrics, and systems to track progress, measure performance, and prepare necessary reporting for scope 3 emissions and sustainable procurement activities.
  • Strategic Contribution: Contribute to the company’s strategic agenda for ESG, providing expert insights from the procurement perspective.
  • Training and Development: Identify global training requirements, develop training programs/plans, and execute them to empower procurement teams with sustainable procurement knowledge.
  • Best Practice Implementation: Identify and implement best practices, working closely with stakeholders to enhance processes and systems within ESG in the supply chain.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on regulatory compliance requirements within ESG in supply chains, ensuring the company's adherence to all relevant regulations.

Who we are looking for:

The ideal candidate for the role most likely has some or all of the following characteristics:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience within ESG or Sustainable Procurement, preferably in a multinational company or international work environment.
  • Agile and innovative mindset with a drive for finding creative solutions to sustainable procurement challenges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report preparation, training materials, and presentations.
  • Strong project management skills to effectively execute sustainable procurement initiatives and collaborate with internal stakeholders.
  • Solid research capabilities to stay abreast of the latest trends, regulations, and best practices in sustainable procurement.
  • Master’s degree - preferably within Supply Chain, Health Safety and Environment, and/or Sustainability.
