Are you a strong communicator? Do you have a good understanding of how to create value and great passenger experience? We are recruiting for a Category Manager – Consumables to join our growing team!
Working Monday to Friday, 9-5, reporting into the Head of Onboard Food, Beverage, and Hotel, you will need to be a strong communicator to develop relationships and be diplomatic to bridge gaps in an organisation. The Category Manager will be responsible for delivering a cost saving to DFDS and leverage scale by using same products where possible across DFDS network. Working with Group Procurement to deliver better value to DFDS. The focus for this position will be on standardization of products across multiple routes, including but not limited to presentation equipment, galley equipment, chemicals, cleaning products, cutlery, plates, and glassware.

Main responsibilities of the role:
- Utilizing analyses and insights to develop overall category strategies to provide a reduction in cost of consumable products across DFDS Passenger Network.
- Ensure we leverage scale by using same products across all ships.
- Managing stock levels in warehouses so we have the right amount for the operation.
- Understand sustainability objectives and ensure any new products comply.
- Working with suppliers and utilizing supplier insights to develop the assortment in specific outlets.
- Work with all teams to remove single use plastic and reduce wastage from consumable.
- Provide up to date ordering sheets to all ships and brief product changes to Master Data via Systems, data & reporting team.
- Ensure continues improvement in reduction of number of products and cost to DFDS.
Skills and Experience:
- Ideally 2+ years’ experience in a category management for food related industries.
- Ability to work on numerous projects at the same time with different agencies.
- Good understanding of consumer food occasions.
- The ability to develop relationships and be diplomatic to bridge gaps in an organization.
- Proactive, confident, and highly collaborative with strong influencing and leadership skills.
- Strong numerical, analytical and communication skills to guide execution of category strategies.
- The ability to develop relationships with internal customers and suppliers.
- Time management and project management skills coupled with the ability to influence others where necessary.
- Solid track record in developing bottom line impact within the categories managed.
