København

The Data Entry and Exploration Platform (DEEP) was initially established in 2016 and developed to strengthen collective sense-making and analysis. It is an online collaborative platform for humanitarian analysis which meets the need for common means to compile, store, structure and share qualitative data and information.

The DEEP is governed by a multi-stakeholder consortium that constitutes a cross-section of humanitarian actors, including international NGOs, UN agencies and RCRC Movement. The current members of the two-tiered DEEP Governance Board are DRC, IDMC, IFRC, iMMAP, OHCHR, Okular-Analytics, UNDCO, UNHCR, UNICEF and UNOCHA. The technical platform is developed and maintained by DFS.

The DEEP secretariat is hosted by DRC and consists of a Project Manager and a Project Grants and Finance Officer.

The DEEP Governance Board seeks to further strengthen collective evidence for situation and risk analysis, and subsequently support prioritization and targeting of operational response in humanitarian contexts through the establishment of a Joint Analysis Workspace (JAWS) aiming to bring together primary and secondary data, both qualitative and quantitative data, as well as expert judgement processes for joint analysis of humanitarian conditions and risks.

DEEP is being adopted by an increasing number of humanitarian and development organisations seeking to achieve a more robust, collaborative and transparent approach to needs assessments and analysis. The JAWS will build on the success of DEEP providing a platform for joint analysis supporting central coordination processes such as the Humanitarian Programme Cycle.
