Job purpose
The ICA will be responsible for overseeing countries assigned to them. The role involves proactively providing guidance, assistance and quality assurance of budgeting, financial reporting, preparation of financial statements for audit and ongoing review and revision of financial procedures, to ensure a reliable, standardized and transparent financial management of DRC’s international programs / projects.

The DRC International Finance Section which forms part of the Finance Department, consists of 16 colleagues located both at HQ and in the field and who are all involved in supporting our Country Offices and international operations.
Employment conditions
The International Controller & Adviser reports directly to the Team Leader, International Operational Finance. The position is a national position and depending on the identified candidate, the duty station can be either at the Danish Red Cross (DRC) HQ in Copenhagen or in the field if the selected candidate originates from one of the countries where DRC operates.
The starting date of the assignment is envisioned as soon as possible. The length of the contract will be one year or permanent depending on the duty station, with possibility of extension. The monthly salary including allowances and pension is depending on experience and qualifications.

Job purpose

The role involves proactively providing guidance, assistance and quality assurance of budgeting, financial reporting, preparation of financial statements for audit and ongoing review and revision of financial procedures, to ensure a reliable, standardized and transparent financial management of DRC’s international programs / projects.
Key responsibilities
The ICA will be key in performing:
- Capacity building of Country Office (CO) finance teams
- Quality Assurance (QA) of donor budgets and reporting
- System controlling (cross cutting controlling of project setup in kompas)
- High level project Budget vs Actual analysis.
- Field support/monitoring visits in the countries of operations
- Contribute in the development and maintenance of finance SOPs, tools and guidelines for DRC
Your profile
- University degree or equivalent qualification in accounting/finance/business administration/auditing or relevant field and preferably a professional membership qualification such as CPA, CMA, CIA etc.
- 3 years plus, of relevant experience in the financial management aspects of humanitarian/development programming and project cycle and oversight of large programme budgets with focus on controlling and advise on different processes.
- Strong experience with EU/ECHO/Novo/MoFA Denmark funded projects, and ability to apply a risk-based approach and suggest effective mitigation measures and recommendations to potential identified risks.
- Extensive experience in developing project Budget, implementation, Budget modifications and financial reporting.
- Strong technical knowledge and experience in controlling, facilitating, supporting, monitoring and supervising activity plans, budgets and financial tasks.
- Excellent analytical skills, particularly concerning complex financial documents, and attention to detail.
- Proven diplomatic, communication, negotiation and team-working skills.
- Proficiency in an ERP system such as MS D365 is an asset.
- Willingness to and interest in travelling to DRC field locations.
