DevOps Engineer

With a direct reporting line to the head of the HW/SW team, your primary focus will be the company’s software DevOps setup , providing the development team with insights into the developed code and functionalities. You’ll be taking a lead in the continuous development of the Struers DevOps strategy , and in collaboration with the rest of the team, develop the elements and timeline for the associated roadmap. Throughout the development projects, the various project teams require an overview of the status. Your role is to provide them with that overview, identifying bottlenecks and developing processes and tools to ensure the right vision and direction.

The Struers development team works with Jira, GitHub, Jenkins, and Artifactory, and one of your important tasks will be to further develop the information flow between these different development tools to ensure a comprehensive overview. Additionally, you’ll participate in the development of release pipelines and further enhancement of the test strategy.

Additional responsibilities involve:

• Guiding the incorporation of automated testing (unit, module, integration) across software, hardware, and mechanical elements or subsystems
• Mentoring colleagues in crafting impactful automated tests
• Developing pipelines for new repositories and setting up the necessary build scripts
• Implementing automated assessment to evaluate cybersecurity risks in developed software

Success in this position hinges on your continuous enhancement and fine-tuning of Struers’ DevOps infrastructure, benefiting software engineers, development project groups, production, service, and product maintenance. If you’re able to contribute to shaping the software test strategy and spearhead the implementation of automated code testing, you’ll excel exceptionally in this role.

Your Experience and Skills

An approach to this role might be that you currently hold a similar DevOps position and aspire to further shape the DevOps function. Alternatively, you might have spent several years as a software developer, gaining experience in automated code testing and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo, or GitLab – and now wish to apply your experiences in a different role. You hold a degree as a software engineer or in a related field, leveraging your education in development environments for multiple years. Over the years, you’ve also worked extensively with Git and GitHub. Additionally, familiarity with elements in our Tech Stack such as Bash/PowerShell scripting, Jira, LabView, Artifactory, C++, or JavaScript would be advantageous. Given Struers’ position as a market leading machinery manufacturer, knowledge of DevOps for PCL-based systems would also be beneficial.

As an individual, you take pride in developing, enhancing, and maintaining reliable infrastructures used by various development teams. You can comprehend complex structures at the intersection of HW/SW/Mechanics and abstract software architecture. Crafting DevOps- and test strategies is rewarding for you, and you’re motivated by continuously implementing these elements within a DevOps roadmap. You possess analytical and structured thinking, relishing the opportunity to delve into tasks, uncovering the underlying causes of issues.

You excel in communication, proactively fostering constructive work relationships among colleagues and partners across various projects. Your English proficiency, both spoken and written, is strong, and you’re open to traveling 10-15 days annually to collaborate with colleagues in the Czech Republic.
