Oticon Medical are committed to improve the quality of life of profoundly deaf patients. Therefore, we develop implantable medical devices and surgical techniques to restore profound hearing loss. Join us to help develop the next generation of bone anchored hearing solutions and leverage the potential of our newly introduced devices.
Take a leading role in defining the architecture for the next generation bone conduction hearing systems
In Oticon Medical BAHS we are working towards a new generation of bone conduction hearing aids, independent from the technology previously used. We are therefore in a unique situation to create a hearing aid system from scratch, allowing us to use our innovative skills and professional knowledge in an entirely new way. To help ensure a sustainable base for future products, we are looking for a System Architect to join our small team based in Smørum, close to Copenhagen.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
Technical background
You have a Masters degree in Engineering or Computer Science - combined with a broad technical background within hardware or software product development. Ideally, you have some years of work experience working as an architect. Furthermore, you have modelling experience and are comfortable decomposing complex systems and negotiating the right interfaces and structures for optimal implementation.
To succeed in this role, you will ideally:
As a person you are a self-starter who easily take initiative and drive projects forward. You often find creative solutions to problems, and you are resilient in the face of issues and setbacks. You enjoy teamwork and bring people along with your supportive way of interacting with others and your good communication skills.
Although part of , the Oticon Medical BAHS R&D organization only consists of 30 people, split between the headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden; Smørum, Denmark; and Sophia Antipolis, France.
Due to the size of our organization, we do not plan to develop everything in-house, but rather utilize subcontractors or strategic partners for parts of the development. Our strategy is to be small and agile, and to succeed in this task we need to make unconventional choices and be pragmatic.
This position is open for the office in Smørum, Denmark, where we are currently 4 people located.

- Define the architecture for our future hearing aid platform (comprising hearing aid, fitting software and connected devices)
- Investigating and outlining various system implementation options from an architectural viewpoint
- Define interface specifications, leveraging industry best practice
- Drive high-level requirement specifications to support other team
Technical background

- Have experience from the hearing aid industry (or similar)
- Ability to break down a complex system into smaller independent modules – to be developed by independent teams
- Experience working with medical devices / in a regulated environment. E.g. experience working according to IEC 13485 and IEC 62304.
