Do you love to communicate? Are you looking for a meaningful job? Are you passionate about documentaries, human rights and sharing information in new and innovative ways?

The Why is seeking a multitasking Communications Coordinator to join our small team in central Copenhagen. We are looking for someone who is familiar with the non-profit sector and has experience communicating across different social media platforms. You will work closely with the CEO and Media Manager to create and disseminate content that reflects the message and mission of the organization. The Communications Coordinator is expected to keep an overview of everything that is happening within the organisation, working together with the team to effectively monitor and communicate activities in a timely manner. The work is mostly in English, but fluency in Danish is a must.

About you:

  • You have a background in communication and can write clearly and engagingly in both Danish and English
  • You are experienced in writing content and creating layouts and graphics for social media platforms such as Instagram and LinkedIn
  • You have a basic knowledge of the Danish media landscape
  • You stay up-to-date on international news and are passionate about human rights
  • You are organized and can oversee several tasks and deadlines at once
  • You are a team player and can quickly anticipate how you can help
  • You are excellent at researching and writing articles about human rights topics
  • You have experience with e-mail marketing and stakeholder management
  • You know how to create effective calls for donations

  • You are passionate about documentary films

Desirable:

  • A good relationship with or contacts within Danish press outlets
  • Experience with writing funding applications
  • Experience with photo and video editing
  • Proficiency in Adobe programs like Premiere Pro, Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Lightroom
  • Experience with setting up and maintaining websites built on Webflow
  • Experience with creating newsletters and campaigns in MailChimp

Tasks:

The main task is to communicate THE WHY’s mission and work to stakeholders and online audiences.

Social media

  • Managing Tik Tok, Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, Twitter accounts
  • Creating posts and making short video clips

Articles, press and newsletter

  • Researching, writing and editing articles for website-release
  • Writing press releases for both Danish and international press
  • Writing and disseminating a monthly newsletter

Stakeholder management, donation drives and membership maintenance

  • Creating event invitations and donations calls
  • Managing stakeholder contacts
  • Managing memberships

Outreach

  • Looking for new international outreach partnerships
  • Maintaining existing partnerships

Impact reporting

  • Gathering stories, pictures and data for the yearly impact report
  • Coordinating, editing and designing the impact report
  • Managing the dissemination of the impact report

THE WHY FOUNDATION is a non-profit media organisation based in Copenhagen that supports sustainable development by securing free access to reliable information for millions of people around the world. We produce and distribute documentaries and multimedia content about human rights, democracy, sustainability, justice and equality. Our project ASK WHY? Docs bring documentary films to secondary school students all over Denmark. In addition, our films are shown on YouTube and on television stations worldwide.

Terms of employment:

The position is full time (37 hours per week).

THE WHY is a small NGO with limited funding and the salary will reflect this.

Expected start date: August 5th
