The position
As a Student Assistant within Black-/Grey-box Modelling and Simulation, you will have a great opportunity to participate in shaping the future of Pharmaceutical Manufacturing with close collaboration with Research and Manufacturing teams across Novo Nordisk. Some of your daily tasks: Interjecting new concepts for system conceptualization and characterization Understanding and justifying why for a given system, a certain type of mathematical model consisting of deterministic, stochastic, or a combination of both should be used Applying these models for system understanding and feature extraction Since the nature of the job is student-based, we try and ensure that you can broaden your network within the company, develop and learn how to apply R&D concepts to real-world, industrial problems Additionally, you will gain experience in working within a Development and Manufacturing environment and observing how data can be utilized with the current trend of Industry 4.0.
Qualifications
You are a Student who is currently finishing your BSc thesis or about to/currently enrolled in the 1st year of an MSc Degree within a Danish University. Ideally, you are studying within the fields of Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Modelling, and Computation. To succeed in this role, you will need: Curiosity and an appetite for solving complex problems by applying a systems approach Experience with equation/object-oriented programming Preference (nice to have): Familiarization with one or more of the following tools: R, Python, SAS, Wolfram, MATLAB, etc. We are looking for a student who is motivated by and enjoys analyzing data, problem conceptualization, developing models, and solving these models for system understanding. About the department
As part of Novo Nordisk’s Product Supply organization, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients is responsible for manufacturing all API for Novo Nordisk’s products. You will be assigned to Manufacturing Development (MDev), a cross-functional area that works at the interface between R&D and full-scale manufacturing with a strategic focus on technology transfer, scale-up, and process improvement-optimization. MDev Bioprocess Improvement-Optimization (MDev BIO), an established and growing group of 7 highly skilled colleagues plus 7 MSc students, working with advanced model-based approaches for designing and understanding Bioprocesses of the Future. 4 of the 7 MSc students have finished hence we’re looking for new colleagues. We have a problem-solving mindset where we work in a dynamic environment to convert engineering challenges into opportunities. If you’re curious as to how we tackle these challenges and would like some examples, then don’t hesitate to continue reading. We tackle these challenges through Multiscale Modelling where we have activities in Applied Mathematical Modelling, Mechanistic Modelling, Process Control Modelling, Capacity Modelling and Supply Chain Optimization Modelling. Briefly, we aim to navigate a complex design and decision space for each of the scales on the multiscale. As our new colleague, you will join us in the Mechanistic Modelling scale where we focus on process understanding and optimization.
