We are seeking a talented and experienced Head of Mechanical Engineering with strong leadership skills to lead our innovative engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of mechanical design, development, and project execution. Your ability to motivate teams, and having a business mindset to create the right balance between cost, quality, and timeline,
will be critical in driving successful product development and delivery.

Your responsibilities will cover:

  • Lead and manage a team of approx. 20 mechanical engineers, providing direction, support, and mentorship throughout all stages of product development.
  • Securing the right competencies to support our business and future needs.
  • Be delivery oriented and have the responsibility for estimates, schedules, and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality products.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to define project requirements, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and issues, proactively resolving challenges to keep projects on track and within scope.
  • Drive continuous improvement in mechanical processes and workflows to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality.
  • Facilitate creation and continuous updates of technology roadmaps together with the technical specialists. Ensure technical roadmaps are linked to product roadmaps and market needs.

You will be part of a leadership team, heading all activities related to mechanical, mechatronics and electrical engineering. In this team we work together to reach our goals, by sparring, mentoring, and challenging each other.

How to succeed in this position?
You have a relevant academic education in engineering or related technical discipline - or equivalent work experience within the mechanical engineering field.

  • You have a Problem-Solving attitude and can effectively solve complex problems by analyzing challenges, identifying root causes, and developing innovative solutions to overcome obstacles in the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems and components.

  • Technical Expertise: You understand mechanical engineering principles, design methodologies, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
  • Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Developing and managing the departmental budget, allocating resources effectively, and optimizing resource utilization to achieve departmental goals. Ensure tasks are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications.
  • Strategic Planning: The ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans aligned with organizational goals is essential for the Head of Mechanical Engineering. This includes working closely together with product management and senior engineers to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Technology Assessment: Scouting emerging technologies and trends in mechanical engineering, evaluating their potential impact on the organization, and making recommendations for adoption or integration.
