Vice President, Head of Strategy and Business Development
Are you ready to play a significant part in developing and improving one of the future leaders in the green transition. We are looking for a colleague to head our strategy and business development department and help set the strategic direction of the company and drive strategic projects independently in a complex and international environment.
European Energy is a Danish privately owned company in rapid growth. We cover all phases of wind and photovoltaic (PV) solar projects, from early development to operation and in some cases divestment of assets as well as Power-to-X. Our company of +500 employees currently has 1.2GW under construction and a development pipeline of 50+ GW. We operate globally and employ 34 different nationalities at our HQ in Copenhagen and our offices in 17 other locations, primarily in Europe. Our vision is to be a major global force in driving the green transition and create the power of tomorrow, today.
You will refer directly to our CEO and head the Strategy and Business Development function which creates and drives the company’s strategic agenda in close collaboration with the executive management team. The projects your department is responsible for are characterized by being of high strategic importance, spanning across the organisation with internal as well as external stakeholders and having a high level of complexity. The team consists of four employees working within strategy and ESG and the department is expected to grow within the next months.
You will play a key part developing and defining the overall strategic direction of the company, which includes evaluating markets, technologies and potential partnerships as well as defining strategic projects to be executed on. You will be driving strategic projects with the overall aim of fueling our growth, optimizing operations and ensuring we are up to date with the enormous growth we are undergoing.
Finally, there will be opportunities to work on more operational aspects of the actual project development and construction.
We seek a team-oriented, yet independent person, with strong structural skills, as you will be working in a high-paced and multidisciplinary environment. You are able to combine strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of how to manage stakeholders in order to drive implementation of strategically important projects. You enjoy exposure to top management and are motivated by driving change and tackle some of the biggest issues of our time in the changing energy industry.

Areas of responsibilities
- Play a key part developing and defining the overall strategic direction of the company across the core business of wind, solar and the newer additions of Power-to-X in collaboration with executive management
- Ensure a strong strategy execution – including defining and following up on strategic initiatives
- Head and develop the Business Development function hereunder ESG.
- Play an active role in tasks forces for urgent matters and of significant strategic importance
- Drive strategic projects with the aim of optimizing operations
- Drive selected strategy projects of high importance and outside the scope of our daily business, e.g. integration of acquired companies
- Ensure continuous development and integration of shared project management practices
- Drive and support critical project governance processes
- Support ESG team on overall direction and activities related to organizational integration
Professional skills we expect from you
- Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or similar
- Professionally, you have acquired a strong strategic toolbox from experience at a top-tier management consulting company and/or corporate strategy department
- Strong Analytical capabilities based on solid quantitative skills
- Experience from project and/or portfolio management or having driven work streams independently in projects. Experience from renewables is an advantage but not a must
- Solid people skills and stakeholder management experience in a complex corporate setting
- Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills, strong drive and an ability to drive implementation across a diverse organisation
- You have strong Excel and PowerPoint skills and master English at a professional level
