As a Data Scientist in Maersk, you will be a key player in building advanced analytical models and algorithms to optimize pricing and decision making.
We Offer
You will be working in a part of company that focuses on digitization, optimization, and automation of how products are acquired and priced globally via advanced analytical software solutions. You will join the Pricing Data Science team based in Copenhagen, where we leverage data, machine learning and optimization techniques to build pricing recommendation algorithms and solutions.
As a Data Scientist in the Pricing Data Science team, you will have a central role in designing and building analytical models that will enhance the accuracy of pricing recommendations. You will be part of a strong analytics team of data scientists, data engineers, and software engineers working together to build highly resilient, available, performant, and maintainable software. There are a lot of interesting challenges ahead, and we need your help.
How we work
The Offer to Agreement Platform consists of several cross-functional teams, each tackling a different problem within our business domain. We aim to keep teams co-located and self-contained but thrive working with stakeholders from across the global organization. Our teams are self-organizing and empowered, and we seek to constantly refine our processes to suit our needs.
We feel accountable for our work: We develop together using modern engineering practices, do pair-programming, and take on the full DevOps responsibility for what we build. Our culture is informal with teamwork, exploration, and rapid iteration at its core, and we believe that giving everyone a chance to be heard is the best way to achieve great results. We value agility, respectful collaboration and the scientific method. We spend time together on team walks and events to form a stronger, more collaborative unit and to inspire and grow each other.
We use modern analytical software tooling mostly consisting of Databricks (i.e. Spark and Python) and rely heavily on open source. We build a variety of solutions that we deploy using Github Actions and Docker onto Kubernetes clusters operated in the Microsoft Azure cloud.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform data analysis and modeling to support pricing recommendation algorithms.
- Develop, evaluate and deploy machine learning models that improve the accuracy of pricing recommendations.
- Work with data and analytics experts to enhance and expand the functionality and possible use cases for our data-driven products that meet business requirements.
- Work with relevant stakeholders to understand the business processes behind the data and the impact that data processing simplification can have on the final product.
- Promote and drive adoption of cutting-edge data science practices within the team.
Who are we looking for?
- You have a relevant university degree in a quantitative field, and some years of experience in data science or similar.
- Preferably you have experience with platforms and technologies we use, but we value the right mindset, passion, and willingness to learn much more than knowing a specific technology or programming language.
- You have an agile mindset and a learning mentality and care about great engineering culture and practices.
- You are motivated by ensuring the models you develop accurately capture the underlying business processes and provide maximum value for the consumers, enabling more business value.
- If you also happen to have experience with algorithmic pricing and associated domains (e.g. revenue management, demand modelling/forecasting) we will be extra interested in speaking with you!
