Get introduced to CMC Chemical Development and meet some of our employees by visiting our career site About the area In Chemical Development, we are responsible for developing the synthetic processes required to produce the active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for Novo Nordisk's new and innovative product portfolio. These processes encompass chemical modification of recombinantly-produced proteins, as well as chemical synthesis of peptides, oligonucleotides, small molecules and novel excipients. Our work spans various stages of development, from clinical trials to commercial manufacturing. As we expand into more synthetic API production platforms, Chemical Development is becoming an increasingly significant growth area for Novo Nordisk. Our team in Chemical Development currently consists of 80+ chemists and laboratory technicians, and we have access to state-of-the-art chemistry laboratory facilities in Bagsværd (DK) and offices in Boston (USA). Our facilities enable us to support various types of work, including isotope chemistry, scale-up productions, and standard process development. The positionWe are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to join our Early-stage laboratory-based Chemical Process Development team. We support projects from pre-clinical to clinical Phase II stages in close collaboration with multiple stakeholders including discovery teams, analysis teams, pilot facilities, and external partners. In the team you will find +40 highly skilled colleagues who continuously challenge themselves and develop our business understanding. As a dynamic team with a vivid social connexion, we put weight on knowledge sharing, collaboration and having a “can-do” attitude.In close collaboration with the department’s chemists and technicians, you will: Work in the laboratory and use your skills within organic synthesis, solid-phase peptide/oligonucleotide synthesis and process chemistry Optimize and mature chemical processes in the laboratory and actively take part in the manufacture of APIs or other relevant synthetic intermediates though scale-up campaigns in our kilo-lab Be on the look-out for and implement new synthesis technologies and techniques, as well as participate in the maintenance of our laboratories and equipment park Coordinate and plan your laboratory work as well as be responsible for reporting of the results Your workplace is Bagsværd (Denmark), where we recently have expanded our state-of-the-art chemistry laboratory facilities placing us in an inspiring environment in very close proximity to our key stakeholders i.e. recombinant technology teams, purification pilots and other CMC development teams. QualificationsYou hold aM.Sc. within synthetic organic chemistry, or a technical degree combined with a few years of experience from University, Pharma or Biotech within organic synthesis. Furthermore, you: Are truly interested and find energy in practical laboratory work Are willing to get involved in a wide array of duties, which will encompass both chemical projects, maintenance of laboratories, and co-coordination of other tasks e.g. (re)building projects or implementation and design of new equipment Have previous experience with various IT-systems and other common tools used in organic chemistry (NMR, HPLC, LCMS etc.) Have proficiency in written and spoken English As a person you are proactive, result-oriented, structured and able to communicate and share your results with all team members on a regular basis.
