The Semantic Integration team at Novo Nordisk is looking for an Ontology Steward with strong communication skills to support our data management initiative.About the positionThe Ontology Steward is accountable for the management of pre-defined domains of master data and meta data groups. Collaborating closely with data owners and data analysts, he/she will be responsible for master data governance and management with respect to data integrity, accuracy as well as privacy where required. This role will be a significant contributor to ensure that data is complete, accurate, and timely. He/she will have strong domain knowledge coupled with experience in data management and governance.The incumbent will be responsible for:
• Setting up a workflow which is triggered by any request from users to the support mailbox and includes steps outlined in the in-house best practices for building and enriching ontologies.
• Management of the workflow to ensure compliance and response times.
• Act as admin for the ontology models in the ontology system to ensure compliance to standards. Ensure best practices are followed by the ontologists.
• Monitor the usage of the ontology editing platform and ensure versioning to enable traceability following best practice guidelines.
• Track the released APIs, their performance, and consumption downstream; monitor automated tests and update them as required.
• Create dashboards to track API performance and users.
• Maintain and update the internal stakeholder facing ontology portal
• Work with the ontology system manager to ensure compliance during IT audits.The Ontology Steward will be an integral part of the Ontology team. They will have overview of all models in the system, their purpose and downstream usage. The steward is also responsible to set up and maintain dashboards for monitoring current state and usage of the data in the ontology system. The incumbent will also act as the QA/QC point to ensure that the ontology system follows the best practices.The incumbent will be expected to communicate widely about data management processes including registration of new meta-data with all key requirements fulfilled in the online catalogueQualifications & ExperiencePreferable MSc or Ph.D. in life science or computer science, and at least 10 years of experience within data architecture and/or Data Management in Scientific Research.The ideal candidate will have experience with:
- Web APIs using e.g., Python, Javascript/NodeJS
- Query languages such as SPARQL, SQL
- Version control using e.g., Git
- Web-based Data visualisation using dashboards such as Spotfire or PowerBI
- Issue management using e.g., Azure Devops, JIRA or similar
- Unit testing using e.g., pytest
