Would you like to become a part of Novo Nordisk’s Cell Therapy R&D unit, where we develop novel stem cell-based replacement therapies for the treatment of serious chronic diseases? The position
In the field of cell therapy, products are typically the result of extensive and complex in vitro cell expansion and differentiation processes. Experimental results are analysed to identify favourable and robust cell culture conditions for consistent process outcome. In parallel to the process development activities, cultivation batches are generated for in-vitro and in-vivo testing in disease models. We are culturing pluripotent stem cells in 2D (adherent) and 3D (suspension) processes in conventional cell culture systems and in bioreactors, and we are operating a broad range of scales, from mL to L working volumes to be able to meet the need for both cells and data in our projects. Primary tasks: Planning, execution, and monitoring of experiments. Analysing experimental results to identify favourable and robust cell culture conditions for consistent process outcome. Combination of desk-based preparation and hands-on work in cell culture laboratories. Cross-functional work in project teams, sharing tasks and knowledge with colleagues from Cell Therapy Research and Cell Therapy Manufacturing.
Qualifications
To qualify for the position, we expect that you: Have previous CMC experience and/or solid bioprocessing background including interest in stem cell biology and bioprocess development. Have relevant education as technician and hands-on background with mammalian suspension cell culture in bioreactor format. Knowledge about bulk scale media handling, perfusion and single-use technology is an advantage but not a prerequisite. Have sound communication skills in Danish and English, enabling you to document your work accordingly.

About the department
We are currently 28 employees, including scientists, laboratory technicians and student workers. Our department receives projects from the research area and focuses on the development of manufacturing and control processes across the entire pluripotent stem cell workflow, starting with cell line derivation and ending with an efficacious and well-characterised product.
You will join an international and dedicated Cell Therapy CMC division of ~75 employees, including scientists, project leaders, laboratory technicians and student workers. We have expertise in analytical development, bioprocess development, stem cell biology and GMP compliance and truly believe that cell therapies will make a difference in the lives of patients.
