Centre for Functional Assays & Screening (CFAS) is expanding! Do you have hands-on experience in vitro biological assays, and do you have a flair for digitalisation and automation? And are you seeking opportunities in supporting an entire drug pipeline from idea to FHD?Then we have an opening for you as Associate Scientist in our Centre for Functional Assays & Screening (CFAS). The position As we are expanding into new therapeutic areas, efficient predictive in vitro screening tools are needed to facilitate medium and high throughput screening of peptides, proteins, therapeutic antibodies, and novel RNAi based concepts. In this role, you will develop tailormade biological in vitro assays and conduct functional screening of drug candidates to aid the selection of the lead compound. In your daily work, which will consist of both hands-on work in the laboratory and participation in global cross-functional project teams, you will collaborate closely with department scientists and technicians. The laboratory work covers cell line engineering, assay development and optimization, assay miniaturization and automation, and screening execution. You will also be responsible for data analysis and reporting and presenting data to the project team. The working environment is dynamic and innovative and involves interactions with colleagues from research sites in Denmark, USA, UK, and China, with an excellent opportunity to establish a strong global scientific network. Your Qualifications To be considered for this position you have: A master’s degree in cell biology, immunology, biochemistry, or a related discipline Hands-on lab experience with cellular in vitro functional assays, e.g., reporter gene assays, receptor binding, ELISA, flow cytometry, enzymatic assays, qPCR, high-content imaging, Ca2+ signaling and FRET assays Experience and flair for using liquid handlers e.g., Biomek or Hamilton Proficient oral and written English skills Flair for programming (e.g., R or Python) is also a plus. Research experience from the pharmaceutical industry or academia is an advantage, but not a requirement. As a person you are proactive and engaged with a positive attitude to new ideas and people. You possess good communication skills and enjoy working in teams. You have a flexible mindset and find value in knowledge sharing with other colleagues. You can work independently and use your creativity to find solutions to scientific challenges. About the Department The Centre for Functional Assays & Screening (CFAS) is part of Global Research Technologies at Novo Nordisk located in Maaloev in the Copenhagen area of Denmark. We specialise in the design and execution of a variety of medium- and high-throughput screening assays with relevant biological read-outs and with a strong focus on automation and digitalisation. We deliver high-quality in vitro data to support the identification of drug candidates with desired functionalities in close collaboration with other parts of the research organization. CFAS consists of three sub-departments and comprises a total of 15 scientists, three associate scientists, 13 technicians and two students. You will be part of a high-performing, multidisciplinary team exploring and identifying new treatment options for diabetes, obesity, NASH, cardiovascular and kidney disease, haemophilia, and other rare blood and endocrine disorders.
