Are you a born leader with a background in natural sciences or health sciences? Do you have solid research laboratory experience and a good understanding of the drug discovery and development value chain? Then this may be just the right job for you. We are looking for a new colleague to head up the Histological Sciences department in Novo Nordisk. About the department Histological Sciences is a department within Safety Sciences and Imaging, Global Discovery and Development Sciences, situated in Måløv, Denmark. It consists of 14 highly skilled and self-motivated histology technicians, delivering state-of-the-art detection of genes and proteins in tissues to support drug discovery and development projects. We work across all therapy areas in Novo Nordisk, delivering histology data that are key for maturing the next generation of drugs changing the lives for patients living with chronic diseases. About the position As Department Manager of Histological Sciences, you can look forward to a diverse role with stakeholder interactions at many levels. You will lead your team to optimally deliver histological data, and you will continuously improve department deliverables and optimise resource use and processes. You will be part of the Safety Sciences & Imaging leadership team where mutual trust, empowerment, and enterprise thinking are core values. Your main responsibilities will be: Organise the daily laboratory work and personal development of 14 histology technicians Prioritise project deliverables and new technology development Drive automatization of laboratory processes and digitalisation of data flow in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders Help promote a culture of innovation and curiosity while maintaining accountability and timely delivery of high-quality scientific data You will work closely together with the employees and the department head of the Pathology & Imaging department, securing that the projects get optimal histology support. Qualifications The ideal candidate has an educational background within natural sciences or health sciences. In addition, we expect: Strong leadership skills, gained either through a formal management position or through informal leadership roles Solid hands-on experience working in a research laboratory Experience from the pharmaceutical industry, with good cross-functional understanding of the drug discovery and development value chain Experience with histological methods such as immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, histopathology, digital image analysis, and spatial transcriptomics will be considered an advantage but not a requirement – the most important competencies to succeed in this position are excellent people management and leadership skills. As a person, you are self-motivated and result oriented, always raising the bar for yourself. You have strong problem-solving skills and high ethical standards. You have the ability to motivate the people around you and create followership – also in the broader Novo Nordisk context where good collaboration will be key to success. You have a well-structured approach to your tasks, take responsibility, have a high-quality mindset, and you can maintain an overview also under time pressure.
