Apply today and become part of Novo Nordisk's mission to improve lives through innovative pharmaceutical solutions!The position As Head of Purification Technologies, you will lead and develop a team of approximately 20 scientists and technicians within purification of protein and peptide drug candidates and tool proteins in early-stage research. You will use your leadership experience and solid scientific background to guide the team and engage in cross-organizational collaborations to obtain maximum impact in the early-stage project portfolio. You will ascertain an overview of the department activities and engagement in the project matrix organization to ensure resources and guide team members according to project priority and criticality.The main responsibilities can be summarized as follows: Continuously improve the purification technologies workflows and processes and ensure implementation of new technologies in the department. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely delivery of fit-for-purpose solutions to projects. Execute overall department strategies. Ensure the seamless transition of purification methods in alignment with CMC peers. Budget and resource planning for the department. Drive overall digitalisation and automation in the department. Qualifications To thrive and succeed in the role, we expect you to have: PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of industrial experience in the development and execution of protein and peptide purifications. Profound knowledge of purification processes, strategies, analytics, and systems. Documented leadership experience from leading and developing a team of scientists and technicians. Proactive and visible leadership style and the ability to set a clear direction in a complex environment The ability to build a curiosity-driven innovation culture while driving business strategies with a focus on fit-for-purpose deliverables. Experience in working with cross-functional teams. Are committed to creating winning teams with a focus on creating an environment of trust and continuous people development Thrive working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment About the department The Purification Technologies department currently counts 20 highly engaged scientists and technicians. The department belongs to the Recombinant Technologies CVP area in Global Research Technologies (GRT) and is situated outside Copenhagen in Måløv, Denmark. We are engaged in early research projects using state-of-the-art technology to deliver purified proteins and peptides from recombinant expressions carried out in sister departments for the development of lead molecules and selection for clinical development. In this context, the department is responsible for the purification of challenging tool proteins, platform-based automated purifications as well as highly customized purification of engineered variant molecules in milligram to gram scale quantities. In addition, the department also supports cell line development and is responsible for developing the initial purification process suited for transfer to our CMC colleagues.
