The position As a Senior Analytical Scientist, you will use your expertise in developing various analytical assays to support the development of our Cell Therapy Products. The positions are partly laboratory driven and include planning and executing experiments to develop and qualify various types of analytical methods. Some of the assays will be cell based, while others are related to solution properties when supporting device and formulation development. The successful candidate will also be expected to do data handling, presentations, and project planning together with other scientists, laboratory technicians and analytical coordinators. These activities will require tight collaboration with other departments within Cell Therapy R&D, such as Cell Delivery, Process Development and Cell Therapy Devices. Further, tech transfer of methods to our sites in California and New Hampshire will also be expected. Some international travel will be expected (approx. 14 days per year). Your main responsibilities include: Independently planning and conducting laboratory experiments to develop and qualify analytical methods for assessment of various parameters relevant for Cell Therapy Products. Driving various analytical development tasks within the projects you have been allocated to. Actively contributing to tech transfer of analytical methods to our sites in the US (CA and NH) or to/from collaboration partners. Authoring and editing SOPs, qualification reports, tech transfer plans and development reports. Supporting and mentoring other scientists and lab technicians with scientific insights and bringing in new ideas. Qualifications You must hold a PhD in life sciences or similar area and 4+ years of experience, or a master’s degree with 6+ years of experience. You must at least have had some experience working in pharmaceutical industry. To be successful in this position you will ideally have experience in some of the following: A good understanding of biological systems with hands on experience in cell culture work. Development, qualification, and tech transfer of analytical methods specifically suited for cell therapy areas, such as cell counting methods, flow cytometry, spheroid characterisation and functional assays. Hands-on experience with potency or functional assay development using cardiac or neuronal cells. Experience with genetic assays, such as genetic stability assessment, ddPCR, g-banding, CytoSNP array, next-generation sequencing (NGS) and NGS-associated bioinformatic analytics. Experience with the evaluation/development of cryo-formulations, knowledge within apoptosis and other relevant analysis methods. Previous experience working with the development of cell therapies. This position requires you to be a dedicated and result-oriented team player who enjoys working in an innovative, international, and open-minded environment. You can easily collaborate cross-departmentally, have a sound scientific judgment, and are used to clearly present scientific data. About the department The department Cell Therapy Analytics and Formulation is a part of Novo Nordisk’s Cell Therapy R&D unit, where we develop novel cell replacement therapies for the treatment of serious chronic diseases. You will join an international and dedicated Cell Therapy CMC division of 80+ employees, including scientists, project leaders, laboratory technicians and student workers.
