The position As a Specialist/Principal Scientist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of the recombinant research projects through your expertise in experimental design, execution, and evaluation. You will work collaboratively with other team members to ensure that project deliverables are fulfilled and provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff members to ensure high-quality results. Your responsibilities will also include developing department capabilities, including platform and infrastructure development processes, to support the growth and success of the research portfolio. You will be expected to keep up to date with the latest scientific literature, new technologies, and emerging trends in the research field to provide innovative solutions that drive project progress.
Qualifications
To thrive and succeed in the role, we expect you to have: Ph.D. in biotechnology, cultivation/fermentation technology, or microbial cell biology. A minimum of 6 years’ experience with cultivation/fermentation using bioreactor systems. Knowledge of state-of-the-art cultivation equipment and experience with continuous cultivation and inducible fed-batch cultivation. Experience with cultivation process optimization and scale-up, as well as primary recovery technologies. Programming and automation skills are an advantage but not a prerequisite. Fluency in both spoken and written English. As a person, you are curious and open-minded to new ideas, people, and challenges. You possess excellent communication skills and the ability to network and find solutions based on insights into scientific challenges. You are a team player who can offer technical guidance and mentorship. Your passion for science and ability to impact and progress projects inspires those around you.
About the department
Cultivation Technologies is a department within the multidisciplinary area of Recombinant Technologies, which specializes in providing the necessary technologies for the discovery and development of biological medicines used to treat diabetes, rare blood diseases, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and other related conditions. Our department is comprised of 12 laboratory technicians and 9 scientists who are responsible for selecting and characterizing new cell lines, developing media, and initiating new process development for drug candidates. We also produce proteins and peptides for preclinical testing in a non-GMP setting, using state-of-the-art equipment to cultivate various expression hosts of both mammalian and microbial origins, as well as primary recovery technologies. Our work is carried out in close collaboration with other departments within Recombinant Technologies and other constituent areas within Global Research Technologies.
