If so, we invite you to apply for this laboratory technician position in the Diabetes Pharmacology department. The position Diabetes Pharmacology delivers high-quality data to advance projects and new ideas within the cardiometabolic areas, with a focus on Type 2 Diabetes. Our work primarily involves in vivo pharmacology with rodents, but we also use a range of in vitro and ex vivo techniques. Our department consists of skilled and engaged laboratory technicians and scientists. There is a great collaborative spirit in the department and we highly value teamwork within our own department, but also with our other pharmacology departments. Responsibilities include: Planning and execution of in vivo studies in close collaboration with the scientists and your fellow technician colleagues. This includes protocol writing, logistical planning, preparation, execution of the study in our animal facility, documentation and data analysis. Analytical work, such as clinical biochemistry and qPCR. Data handling, QC and analyses of studies across the department and wider function. User of technical instrumentation, with an ambition of becoming superuser which includes setup and maintenance of equipment and methods. Help laboratory technician colleagues with their studies when needed – both within our department and in sister departments. Engage in cross-departmental assignments focused on improvement of our processes, setting up of new equipment and supporting development of new IT systems. There will be a special focus on the implementation of new digital solutions and automation of processes. Qualifications We are looking for a laboratory technician who is a true team player, is eager to learn something new and is always looking to develop him-or herself. Preferably, you have in vivo pharmacology experience from working with rodents, or otherwise a genuine interest in planning and performing in vivo studies. Our ideal candidate has a flair for data analysis and data management, as this is a key part of our work. Experience with automation, such as electronic registration of samples and barcoding, is also very welcome. It is essential that you like to work in teams – the experimental work we do often require many people and we have a highly collaborative environment, where you are expected to pitch in and assist others when needed. About the department Diabetes Pharmacology is part of Integrated Physiology Research - an area including all in vivo pharmacology departments within cardiometabolic research at Novo Nordisk. The area is focused on target identification, validation, and deep pre-clinical characterisation of novel treatment options for obesity, diabetes, liver disease, cardiovascular disease, and renal disease. In close collaboration with our in vitro colleagues, we strive to identify and mature pharmaceutical approaches that will benefit patients living with serious chronic disease. We establish, validate, and use in vivo models in rodents (mice and rats) and large animals (e.g. pigs, dogs, and non-human primates) and perform pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, and mode-of-action studies to characterize potential new drug candidates. Experimental work is carried out by technical staff and scientists as well as outsourced as contract research.
