Would you like to lead Medical and Science for one of Novo Nordisk fastest growing areas?
We are looking for an experienced leader to join an ambitious and creative team of medical, clinical pharmacology and device specialists and help us set the direction and drive the development of the Obesity, Liver Diseases & Devices area.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with an innovative product pipeline and drive impact at scale in both clinical drug and device development.
The position is placed in Greater Copenhagen area, Denmark. We welcome applications from candidates based in Denmark and international applicants.
The position
The VP of Medical & Science is a highly visible position in the organisation. Reporting to the Corporate Project Vice President – Obesity, Liver Diseases & Devices, the VP works with a diverse landscape of global senior stakeholders and is a member of the area’s leadership team and the Global Medical & Science Leadership Council. In addition, the VP builds and maintains partnerships with investigators, key opinion leaders, and health authorities.
You will oversee short, mid, and long-term planning and will help run and further develop Obesity, Liver Diseases & Devices Medical & Science area in alignment with the wider business strategies.
Together with the team, you will be responsible for medical and scientific matters related to drug and device development. This includes product development strategies, medical and scientific input across the value chain and interactions with health authorities.
People leadership is a critical part of the role. You will lead a fast-growing team of 50+ people and will play an active role in coaching and developing their direct reports and setting direction for the whole area. Supporting and enabling knowledge sharing across the team and the wider organisation and promoting collaboration will be vital for the team success.
You will play a key role in driving innovation through leading and participating in important global projects across the value chain and ensuring strategic partnership with research, development and commercial teams as well as external business development stakeholders. In addition, you will ensure that the knowledge of the therapeutic areas and competitive environment is kept up to date.
Qualifications
You are an experienced leader with a strong clinical and/or research background, preferably holding an MD Degree and a PhD Degree, having solid experience from the pharmaceutical industry.
You will bring a successful track record of strategic planning within clinical drug development and/or regulatory submission.
To be successful in the role, you will demonstrate strong people leadership skills and a proven track record of leading through others and developing and coaching high performing teams of talented and creative individuals.
You are a team player that will foster and encourage collaboration across the team, within the organisation and externally. You can navigate a complex senior stakeholder landscape and operate in a multi-national matrix environment.
