Chief Operations Officer (COO) to BHS Logistics – Køge


BHS Logistics is a renowned logistics company with a long history and an even more exciting future ahead – with great growth potential and financial resources to realize their ambitions.

In a newly established role as COO, you will become part of the Executive Board and Management Team and will be an integral part of directing and optimizing processes across operations and commercial activities. Furthermore, and as part of the Executive Board, you will be a key contributor in executing the company strategy and plans for growth and acquisitions. You will head an organization of more than 250 FTEs and four Business Unit Directors.

The role of COO will work out of the office in Køge, where the Managing Director and several members of the Management Team also work. You will report directly to the Managing Director and the Board.

With approx. 320 employees spread across four departments in Denmark, modern information technology, and a well-established agent network, the company operates both nationally and internationally – on land, at sea and in the air. Leadership, and organizational and strategic business development


As the COO, you will play a central role in commercial development and communication, improving commercial structures, boosting sales performance, and optimizing operations capacity, -OPEX, and -CAPEX. Your responsibility extends to conducting risk assessments for business opportunities and ensuring the seamless integration of possible acquisitions into BHS Logistics.

You will steer the strategic direction, develop scalable operations, globalize processes, and nurture the professional development of your management team. You will engage directly with the Executive Board, Board of Directors, customers, acquisition targets and other network relations.

Your specific duties in Operations, Commercial Leadership, and General Management comprise:

  • Serving as a role model and leading by example, driving change management initiatives that empower, motivate, and inspire the organization.
  • Heading the initiation and implementation of system tools to create in-depth insights into costs and performance.
  • Providing strategic and financial direction for investments, due diligences, and investor expansion, collaborating closely with the Management Team.
  • Taking charge of budgeting, financial planning, and risk mitigation associated with customer accounts, opportunities, credit management, and currency issues.
  • Collaborating with the Management Team and Board of Directors to establish the vision and define key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensuring a seamless customer approach by supervising the execution of key account plans, managing customer pipelines, tracking sales leads, and implementing effective pricing strategies.
  • Playing a key role in preparing Board material, offering insights into financial matters, operations performance, and investment considerations.

Your role demands a high sense of accountability, proactive leadership, strategic foresight, and hands-on involvement in pivotal aspects of the organization’s growth and development.

COO or Operations Executive from freight-forwarding


As COO, you are a leader with a genuine interest in leading and motivating others, with an eye for their development needs and competencies. With your empathetic approach and genuine interest in people, and their motivational drivers, you are skilled in establishing a structured environment, where people feel safe, trusted, and where they can focus on their deliveries. In situations that require so, you take the lead, clear away obstacles, mitigate, delegate, and follow-up on the execution of strategies and plans.

Next to being a leader, you take strong ownership of safeguarding the organisation by ensuring investments and optimisation of invested resources. Key words that can describe you are structure, direction, seniority, maturity, and process orientation, and with a true motivation for continuous improvements and growth.

Your professional qualifications include concrete experience from Operations in freight-forwarding / road transport, and you also have following skills and experience:

  • Executive profile, with experience from leading managers, and if you are not a COO, you are most likely acting as right hand to an Operations Executive and with ambitions and potential to take on a C-level role.

  • International or Nordic experience, and a strong multi-cultural awareness and fluency in English.
  • Relevant academic credentials combined with a high abstraction level and strategic outlook.
  • Preferably experience from working with ESG (Environmental Social Governance) and an understanding of the need for registering data and reporting.
