MAIN TASKS Under the supervision and guidance of the HRIC project manager and the project team in Copenhagen Denmark and in coordination with the project manager and partnership adviser in Rabat, Morocco, the consultant shall:

YOUR PLACE OF WORK This position is based in Rabat, Morocco.
The Danish Institute for Human Rights is an independent state-funded institution. Our mandate is to promote and protect human rights and equal treatment in Denmark and abroad. We co-operate with state actors on the respect, protection and fulfilment of human rights by providing substantive, organisational and processual advice to these actors. As a consultant you will support the implementation of the Danish Institute for Human Rights’ engagement in Morocco and your work is funded by the Danish-Arab Partnership Programme (HRIC/DAPP). CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT The consultancy bid should detail how the above-mentioned outputs could be delivered on an average input rate of approximately 37-40 hours per week. This should preferably be delivered within the office hours of the Danish Institute for Human Rights in Copenhagen vis a vis project needs.
Please note this is a time-restricted position running until 30 December 2025.
The CV of the consultant should demonstrate experience in similar roles, and a strong profile with long standing experience in the human rights and state actor field is an asset. As the duty station is Morocco only applicants with permits to work and reside in the country will be considered. You must be available and able to travel to other countries (Tunisia, Jordan, Egypt and Denmark) 50 days per year.

- Contribute to the Danish Institute for Human Rights’ work with expertise on human rights education and human rights knowledge development.
- Support work with state actor and partners with human rights education expertise both from a didactic and from the “about, for, through” perspectives.
- Develop human rights education strategies and plans.
- Support national human rights institutions in taking a structural approach to human rights education.
- Take the lead – or as required by the partner - in the development of resources (i.e vocational courses, training modules, tool kits, distance learning) and provide expertise on human rights education methodology and adult education.
- Develop and facilitate training and serve as course manager as required.
- Generally, anchor human rights education methodology and practice in human rights courses.
- Set up a system for the documentation of learning effects.
- Engage in the partnerships pertaining to your area(s) of expertise.
- Provide support to partners on relevant contextual human rights issues such as women’s rights and non-discrimination (ethnic minorities, disabled persons, LGBTQ+ etc.), sexual and gender-based violence, domestic- and online violence, human trafficking, internally displaced persons, etc.
- Follow up on? partnerships within your area(s) of expertise in coordination with the project manager / partnership adviser in country.
- Manage logistical arrangements for activities supported by relevant colleagues in Copenhagen.
- Manage budget for activities.
- Support annual narrative and financial reporting to the donor and final project reporting.
- Support monitoring and evaluation of the project including harvesting outcomes in line with the Outcome Harvesting approach.
EXPERIENCE
- Knowledge of human rights in the Middle East and North Africa.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Fluent in English and Arabic or in French and Arabic.
- Team worker who can work with a high degree of autonomy.
- Excellent organisational and structural skills.
- Professional and active approach to donors and fundraising.
- Experience with project management.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MA degree in human rights.
- As a minimum, 8 years of experience working with human rights.
- 5 years of experience working with state actors with a human rights mandate.
- Knowledge and experience in a range of human rights.
- In depth knowledge of the contexts of Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia.
- Languages: Arabic and English are mandatory for this position.
