Clinical position as staff specialist or as consultant combined with a clinical research associate professorship in Endocrinology, Gastroenterology & Hepatology or Geriatrics
A clinical position as staff specialist or consultant of Endocrinology, Gastroenterology & Hepatology or Geriatrics at the Department of Medicine at Zealand University Hospital (Køge) is open for appointment from March 1, 2023.
The position as consultant or staff specialist is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical research associate professor in Endocrinology, Gastroenterology & Hepatology or Geriatrics at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
With this new position, the Department of Medicine at Zealand University Hospital wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the clinical research associate professorship and the clinical position.
The Department
The Department of Medicine is organized in three sections: Endocrinology, Gastroenterology & Hepatology or Geriatrics. In addition, the Department treats patients with diseases of Internal Medicine.
The Department receives yearly around 7,000 admissions and takes care of more than 30,000 outpatient visits.
The specialty sections Endocrinology and Gastroenterology & Hepatology harbor the Regional Specialty function for patients from the whole region.
Region Zealand has a population of approximately 820,000 citizens who are under the care of four hospital units. Zealand University Hospital is one of these units with a division in Roskilde and one Køge. Zealand University Hospital has at present approximately 700 beds and covers most medical specialties. In 2026, Zealand University Hospital will be housed in new buildings and will be the main regional hospital with a centralization of nearly all medical specialties and a total of 835 beds.
Clinical functions and focus areas of the department
Research and teaching
With the new position as staff specialist or consultant and clinical research associate professor of the one of our specialties, the Department of Medicine wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching. In particular, the Department of Medicine has a central role in the development of the Medical School curriculum under development in Region Zealand in close collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.
The Department teaches medical students at the University of Copenhagen as well as post-graduate doctors within our specialties.
Qualifications
Applicants for a position as consultant or as staff specialist must be board-certified specialist in Endocrinology, Gastroenterology & Hepatology or Geriatrics.
Conditions
In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the clinical research associate professorship) and to the hospital (the clinical position) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the clinical research associate professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies for applicants who are already employed as consultants or staff specialists at Zealand University Hospital.
Salary and conditions of employment as consultant or staff specialist are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.
As clinical research associate professor, at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks, and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining 50% will be allocated to clinical work in agreement with the head of Department of Medicine, Zealand University Hospital.
