Do you have a profound interest in data-driven development of novel and challenging pharmaceutical products? Then you could be our new post-doctoral colleague in CMC API Development. About the department CMC Development As part of Novo Nordisk’s CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control) makes a real difference for patients with chronic diseases across the world. We develop, manufacture, and distribute drug candidates for non-clinical and clinical trials with the help from approximately 1400 CMC employees. We develop and formulate all new peptide and protein processes, coming out of our research unit and ensure the best-in-class treatments for patients. CMC Development is organised in six areas of expertise supporting the entire drug development pipeline. CMC API Development and CMC DP Development CMC API and DP Development is responsible for developing, upscaling, and documenting fermentation, purification, and formulation for drug production in order to bring the growing pipeline of new drug candidates into clinical trials. The position The position is a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship in a joint venture between CMC API development and CMC Drug Product (DP) Development, Bagsværd. The position is in collaboration with University of Copenhagen (Professor Jukka Rantanen) and part of the work will take place at the University. As part of Novo Nordisk’s continued commitment to the reduction of our production costs and improvement of our products, we are seeking a post-doctoral fellow for the development of a new formulation platform. The fellow will utilise knowledge within optimization of spray drying conditions, co-formulation possibilities, analytical understanding of critical particle and powder characteristics to develop a next generation formulation platform. The practical work will involve hands-on spray drying process optimization, related formulation development and data-driven identification of critical powder characteristics. The fellow will work in close collaboration with the downstream development, analytical, formulation and device departments. Qualifications You hold a degree in engineering/pharmaceutical/food science or an equivalent academic degree, and a PhD in a relevant area, and preferably have at least one year industrial experience within spray drying process and/or formulation of advanced fine-chemical (enzymes, API ect.) products . The candidate is expected to have experience with working in an international environment. Moreover, a strong background in characterisation of powders and data science mind-set is an advantage. You have excellent written and oral English communication skills and a track record of publications within the field of spray drying or formulation development. For non-native English speakers you will ideally be able to provide documentation for your English proficiency (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS or similar). The position requires the ability to define and perform tasks independently with a dedicated commitment to deliver high quality data and documentation. At the same time, you are required to have an innovative and positive mind-set and thrive in a dynamic research environment where daily collaboration with multiple stakeholders is essential.
