Experienced Jet Fuel Trader covering both conventional jet fuel and sustainable aviation fuel for Maersk Energy Markets

Maersk Energy Markets is looking for an experienced jet fuel trader to drive our progress in the aviation fuels space as part of our dynamic front office.
Maersk Energy Markets is the commodities trading division responsible for sourcing energy for Maersk’s global logistics activities.
The department is part of Maersk’s Energy Transition organisation and covers both fossil fuels and sustainable energy.
You will be an integral part of the Maersk Energy Markets front office, responsible for the buying of conventional jet fuel and the sourcing of sustainable aviation fuel for Maersk’s aviation operations.
This role is based in Copenhagen and limited travel can be expected.
The role
As jet fuel trader you will join an internal top-tier team of experienced commodities traders, dedicated to securing pivotal energy deals for one of the industry's leading names.
This is a dynamic, global environment designed for those with a keen commercial instinct and a deep understanding of the aviation fuels market. You will collaborate with our dedicated Energy Markets units, such as Origination and Strategy & Portfolio, to ensure a smooth flow of both traditional jet fuel and SAF. To truly shine in this role, a cooperative spirit and a proactive mindset are essential.
Furthermore, your interactions will not be limited within one team. You will engage with Maersk's diverse teams, from the wider Energy Transition team to the Air Freight department and beyond. Hence, this role offers a chance to build a robust internal network while also forging meaningful ties with external stakeholders across the aviation fuels industry.
You will:
- Lead jet fuel sourcing for Maersk by securing optimal deals and commercial terms.
- Oversee a comprehensive jet fuel database, integrating suppliers, prices, and quotes into a unified system to ensure that Energy Markets can deliver aviation fuels thought leadership to the rest of Maersk.
- Ensure smooth collaboration with Maersk's jet fuel suppliers, addressing challenges proactively and building innovative deal structures that secure our supply long-term.
- Forge and maintain dynamic internal and external relationships with Maersk’s Air Freight and Air Cargo, and with global airline partners.
- Seamlessly coordinate with middle and back offices for various administrative tasks, from supplier registration to payment guarantees.
- Be the go-to expert on conventional jet fuel and SAF, deepening insights and expanding your network through trade shows and supplier meetings.
- Contribute to shaping the future of aviation fuels at Maersk, from sourcing policies to a pioneering fuel efficiency program. As an expert in your field, you will have a direct impact on how Maersk shows up in the aviation industry.
We are looking for:
The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with solid experience in sourcing conventional jet fuel and/or SAF.
You are structured and organized, able to keep the big picture in sight while zooming in on the details that matter.
Furthermore, you are:
- An informed individual, deeply connected with the aviation fuels market and its key players.
- A confident deal-maker, equipped with strong commercial insight and a drive to secure great commercial deals
- An analytical mind, adept at structured problem-solving, with a knack for numbers and data.
- An effective communicator with top-tier stakeholder management skills.
