About the department In Device & Delivery Solution (DDS), we are more than 350 colleagues who do research, design and development of innovative delivery solutions including connected systems and software as a medical device (SaMD) for the Novo Nordisk drug pipeline. Through research activities and feasible solutions, business value and focus on the end-user, we help people live a life with as few limitations as possible. That’s what we call empathy-driven innovation. Delivery and connected devices support patients in taking the right dose, in the right way, at the right time, while SaMD simplifies the treatment and enables a more meaningful dialogue between the patient and health care provider. This leads to improved outcomes which in turn means that patients are further supported in following their treatment regimes. To ensure this development journey we need strong research capabilities to enable our delivery and connectivity systems to be developed in close collaboration between patients and the scientific discovery teams across Novo Nordisk. The DDS Companion SaMD organisation is comprised of 40 employees located in Seattle (US), Hillerød (DK) and Søborg (DK). You will be part of the team of competent researchers and engineers located in Søborg who engage in developing the first generation SaMD products within Novo Nordisk. The position As Lead Research Scientist within DDS Companion SaMD, you will bring a scientific research background to facilitate and drive internal and external collaborations to discover opportunities for potential development within the SaMD and DTx area. You are expected to drive cross-functional research activities with relevant stakeholders in the organisation with a strong focus on the strategy and core business. Other team members will be looking to you for guidance and sparring within both research and development activities and you may direct work of other members of the team. You will be responsible for: Driving cross-functional collaboration within research of unmet needs and technical opportunities in SaMD and DTx External collaboration with universities, partners, and other relevant actors Driving the research strategy and approach within the SaMD and DTx area in Denmark Collaborating with the US SaMD Research team You will act as a SaMD and DTx Research Scientist ambassador within the organisation to increase overall SaMD and DTx research activities and maturity. This position may require travelling domestically and internationally up to 10%. Qualifications To thrive and succeed, we expect you to hold a PhD degree with 4-5 years of experience or a master’s degree with 5-7 years of experience conducting research with a proven track record designing studies, collecting and analysing data in a relevant field such as Engineering, Behavioural Science, Anthropology. Additionally, you have a demonstrable background in: Project management: research and concept development Pharma or medical device industry Research agreements with universities and/ or partners It is an advantage to have experience: Engaging in clinical activities within research Statistics, Experimental Design, data science, and predictive modelling Programming experience in Matlab, Python and/or R Version control, e.g. Gitlab As a person, you demonstrate strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills and an ability to bring clarity in complex situations. You feel motivated by collaborating across areas and navigating in a complex and political stakeholder landscape. You value teamwork, are self-motivated, can manage your work schedule and navigate through research activities and deliverables.
