Wolt is a Finnish technology company best known for their food delivery platform. They have grown significantly in the last three years, expanding operations from just four countries across the Nordics to 23 countries across Europe and Asia today.
The Finance team has played a key role on this journey. Supporting global operations from their central Helsinki hub has been no easy task, but the group of dedicated and motivated professionals has succeeded in this.
As a part of Wolts upscaling activities in Denmark, they are now looking for an experienced Country Controller to assist in focusing on the local accounting efforts in Denmark. You will sit with the local country team in Copenhagen but report to the Accounting Lead in Helsinki and work directly with the centralized Finance team.
What makes the Finance team so special is their ‘service first’ approach to the job – creating strong communication loops with the wider business, so that bottlenecks are minimized and that things get done quickly and efficiently. Everybody is accountable for their own workload and takes pride in being meticulous and precise.
The Country Controller is responsible for local compliance and reporting, but as this is the first local accounting hire in Denmark, the role will also include setting up the local scalable accounting processes, while assisting the local teams with accounting related enquiries.
Your main responsibility will be to create a fully reconciled financial position in Wolt Denmark covering all aspects of Wolt Denmark, such as:
To fit the profile of Wolts new country controller we imagine you having extensive experience with local statutory accounting- and tax compliance and a solid background in relevant bookkeeping or accounting roles, preferably from a multinational company.
Your professional background can be founded on a bachelor or master’s degree in accounting, as CPA/ACCA, or equivalent experience. Experience with IFRS is an advantage due to the cross-country interfaces while excellent language skills within written and spoken Danish and English is a must. Having experience with NetSuite is an advantage and MS Excel is mandatory.

Building up and consolidating
The Country Controller is responsible for local compliance and reporting, but as this is the first local accounting hire in Denmark, the role will also include setting up the local scalable accounting processes, while assisting the local teams with accounting related enquiries.
Your main responsibility will be to create a fully reconciled financial position in Wolt Denmark covering all aspects of Wolt Denmark, such as:
- Leading the delivery of local and global finance initiatives, financial process implementation and ensuring the compliance on global policies
- Maintaining and strengthening the key internal and external relationships including local auditors, authorities and senior management both locally and internationally
- Facilitate close cooperation with other local teams in order to ensure local financial matters are supported, such as payment follow-ups, explanations of reports provided to restaurant partners etc.
- Being the primary point of contact with finance department in Helsinki headquarter
Your background
