Sales Specialist – digital and green transformation of the shipping industry

Are you experienced within sales of digital customer solutions and do you seek a key role in pioneering a new market? If so, this job is tailored to you. You will contribute to bringing the shipping industry up to speed when it comes to use of modern, digital and value adding digital tools. Solutions that can create transparency across vessel performance. It can be via monitoring of fuel consumption, emission control overall energy efficiency, but also fleet cyber security and more advance digital services. Your focus is to be close to our customers and to know the competitive landscape. As such, you must be able to build networks and demonstrate relevant IT knowledge to customers – see and communicate how our products can be implemented in the customers’ setup. You don’t have to be an IT specialist, but enough to understand the generic landscape of our customers and when in the sales process to bring in your product specialist colleagues. Your customers are primarily Danish but also Nordic shipowners and ports. The market is young and subsequently you must be capable of positioning ABB as the preferred supplier of advanced and integrated digital services across the market. The digital agenda is high priority at our customers as mean of complying with future environmental regulations and achieve highest energy efficiency levels of their fleet and assets. Backed by ABB as an industry leading company and our extensive product portfolio, you will have a very strong foundation to work from. You will be part of our local service team. However, your colleagues are to a high degree international. In ABB flexibility and cross border collaboration is a natural part of the way we work. The atmosphere is ambitious and professional but also encouraging and friendly. We support each other and have fun. This role will report to the Sales Manager and based either in Ballerup or Middelfart and you will naturally be equipped with a fully electric company car.

Your responsibilities


  • Build product and market knowledge.
  • Build networks to key decision makers.
  • Book and conduct meetings for in-dept solution sales and consulting.
  • Negotiate and close deals.
  • Analyze and identify market opportunities.
  • Support sales across our general product portfolio. Digital will remain your key focus.

Your background


  • Solid experience within sales of digital customer solutions, e.g. ERP, cyber security or other advanced digital or software solutions to larger organizations.
  • A good technical understanding of IT systems and cyber security.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate within a matrix organization to create the right solutions and offers.
  • Commercial and customer focused mind set. It’s a natural part of your DNA to always hold a deal focused and value adding approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex sales processes with high-level stake holders.
  • An analytical and structured work approach – in this market quality trumps speed.
  • Fluent in English written and spoken – shipping is global industry.
