The Development EVP area is responsible for driving innovative pharmaceutical drug and device development worldwide from phase 1 to product launch, and to ensure continued development through life cycle management. We work in a project-centric organisation, where cross-functional global project teams (GPTs) drive the development with focus on delivering viable products that make a difference to patients and ultimately benefit society. Our area is a staff function to Development Management reporting to the Development Strategy, Portfolio, External Innovation and Digitalisation CVP unit. It consists of professionals and specialists with backgrounds in science, business, and finance. The Project Leadership Excellence team is responsible for strategic sparring and support to the Global Project Teams (GPTs) and to the Project Vice Presidents (PVPs) chairing the GPTs. This includes facilitating and driving cross-functional projects and trainings, reviewing development project strategic documents and plans, as well as driving process improvements and promoting knowledge sharing between projects as well as cross the value chain. The Position As the Associate Director in our team, you will be part of ensuring product development excellence through collaboration and support to the project organisation/GPTs and to governance (PDComm/PDCouncil), as well as providing strategic challenge and support to development projects. This includes providing challenge and sparring to PVPs, GPTs, and senior level colleagues in the preparation and use of the strategic product development plans and the Target Product Profiles. You will help with identifying opportunities, industry trends and insights and provide recommendations using your proven portfolio or subject matter expertise and support planning and execution of knowledge exchange sessions and training sessions in product development strategy and project management. In addition, you will have the opportunity to drive cross-functional projects, such as organisational or process improvement projects within the EVP area as well as across EVP areas. You will also proactively plan and drive projects, shape recommendations and facilitate meetings with project members and stakeholders. As a member of our team, you will play a significant role in ensuring close integration and collaboration between the project organisation/GPTs and our governance boards. We strive to be trusted advisors to our stakeholders, why a strong focus on stakeholder management is essential. The position requires collaboration and alignment with stakeholders across functions and organisational levels, including senior level management. We are a growing department, in an evolving EVP area, and you will have the opportunity to impact and develop the role together with the Senior Manager of Portfolio Leadership Excellence and the rest of the team. Qualifications You have a Master degree, or higher academic degree, in a relevant field combined with minimum 3 years of project management experience. Solid knowledge of and experience from pharmaceutical development processes is a prerequisite. In addition, we like to see that you have several of the below qualifications:
  • Excellent project management skills and a proven track record of driving complex projects of a strategic nature.
  • Experience in collaborating successfully with many different stakeholders across functions and at different organisational levels, including senior level management.
  • Experience from driving pharmaceutical product development through Global Project Teams, or other related cross-functional pharmaceutical development teams.
  • Strong communication skills and are capable of effectively structuring material to allow easy decision making
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to quickly develop an understanding of complex projects and situations
  • Finally, you have a positive “can-do” attitude and thrive in a complex and dynamic environment. You are proactive, ambitious, persistent with a high degree of independency and drive and like to challenge status quo and develop new innovative solutions to the challenges we meet. You are also a good collaborator and dedicated team player, where the focus is on supporting others. You would fit into a team that is characterised by an informal atmosphere with emphasis on an inspiring and engaging working environment.
