As our new Head of Procurement & Chartering, you will be a part of the Regional Maersk Project Logistics (MPL) leadership team and ensuring the deployment and execution of the Regional MPL Procurement Capacity management strategy.

You will be responsible for the category strategy creation and implementation, strategic supplier selection, tendering and negotiation, stakeholder management and engagement and financial acumen, along with team leadership, management and coaching and fostering a healthy working environment.

Key responsibilities

As Head of Procurement & Chartering, you will be based in Aarhus. You will join a team of 210 colleagues and work in close collaboration with Global, Regional and MPL leaders, Commercial Team, Platform owners and carriers.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Execution of the MPL Procurement strategy

  • Leading negotiations around MPL rates, contracts, services, and incentives with new and existing suppliers

  • Establishing key contacts with suppliers and act as the regional procurement communications lead

  • Being accountable for management and maintenance of capacity and supplier allocations as well as monitoring performance levels / KPI’s for all suppliers

  • Support on sales visits and deliver product support material (presentations, flyers, market updates etc.)


Furthermore, you will ensure seamless communication and alignment with Global and Regional MPL Management as well as leading and directing teams to work together with local teams to analyze and implement, when required, consolidation service opportunities for different products, routes and suppliers.

Required experience & skills:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience within chartering and procurement processes

  • strong know-how within chartering and dealing with Breakbulk / Heavy lift operations

  • Strong connection with carriers

  • Ability to work in a matrix organization

  • Strong customer focus

  • Good interpersonal, communication and excellent negotiating skills
