Department of Food Science (KU-FOOD) is looking for an energetic and organized project coordinator until the end of December 2027, as part of the SEEDFOOD project (“Functional and palatable plant seed storage proteins for sustainable foods”) funded by the Novo Nordisk foundation, awarded to Professor Marianne Nissen Lund. SEEDFOOD is an ongoing project (started in January 2022) that aims at tailoring plant seed protein with highly functional, palatable, and nutritional properties through novel protein design and in-depth understanding of molecular interactions in the food matrix. Project partners include the Danish Technical University and University of Le Mans, France. In order to facilitate and support a dynamic and collborative culture in the SEEDFOOD project, we seek a project coordinator who will thrive with with a developing and versatile job in a busy, but respectful and informal working environment. You like to solve many types of different tasks and make it all fit together in close cooperation with the project leader. You may already have knowledge of an international research environment and insight into the framework and conditions of research.

Given the technical nature of this work, we anticipate that the successfully chosen applicant will have a scientific background to aid integration of the coordinator into the project. The project coordinator will work in conjunction with other project managers and support staff at Department of Food Science and will be supported in their role by the administrative staff at the department. There will be opportunities for professional and career development, for example via relevant courses.

Main tasks

As a project coordinator, you will have a versatile everyday life with close interaction with the researchers, where you must, among other things:

  • Be responsible for and further develop the day-to-day, practical operation of the project and be the "go-to person" for the project's employees and guests
  • Coordinate the project's activities together with the management team with a focus on creating a dynamic and collaborative culture in the project
  • Be a personal assistant to the project leader
  • Coordinate the overall progress of the project. This includes follow-up on deliverables and project activities described in the project plan, as well as the annual reporting to the Novo Nordisk Foundation
  • Keep an overview of the project's financial consumption and dispositions, in collaboration with the Department of Food Science's project economists
  • Facilitate effective internal communication in the project, e.g. via Newsletter and Slack, this includes taking lead on compiling input from project partners
  • Coordinate and lead external communication and dissemination by updating websites and SoMe (e.g. LinkedIn) as well as (popular) scientific articles
  • Convene, organize and facilitate meetings, seminars, workshops and trips with project partners and industrial collaborators
  • Facilitate HR tasks around the project's employees, in collaboration with the secretaries at KU-FOOD, the HR center at the Faculty of Science, and International Staff Mobility, University of Copenhagen
  • Communicate with the Tech Trans office on preparation of collaboration agreements/material transfer agreements with new industrial collaborators

Yourqualifications

We expect that you:

  • Have a relevant academic degree, preferably in a topic related to Food Science and/or Protein Chemistry.
  • Are experienced in project management and outreach, including evidence of excellent organizational skills, attention to detail etc.
  • Are able to lead a large project, involving the coordination and management of senior researchers in both academia and industry.
  • Are excellent at teamwork and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Are able to translate complex scientific topics into clearly communicated outreach via written articles, social media posts, or short explainer videos.
  • Have good IT skills.
  • Are fluent in English (written, reading, spoken); ability to speak Danish is an advantage but not a prerequisite.

Terms of employment

Employment is as an academic employee or specialist consultant depending on experience. The position is 37 hours a week, but part-time may be an option. The starting date is 1 March 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter until 31st December 2027.

Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
