Summary:

With the end consumer in mind, the Head of Global Logistics & Expedition will drive the global logistic and expedition warehouse set up. You will be in charge of creating a consistent and sustainable logistic organization and be the strategic leader across all expedition warehousing and logistics within STG.

You will be responsible for ensuring the STG’s every day operational activities run smoothly and effectively. In this role, you will develop and implement end to end processes and new methods to get full efficiency and achieve cost savings, while delivering best practices in our expedition warehouses across the globe. This will include designing and transforming both transport and warehousing, at global and in country levels.

You will be joining a diverse team, reporting directly to Senior Vice President, Global Integrated Planning and you could be based in Denmark, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany or Dominican Republic. You will be travelling around 50% of the time.

What can you expect in as a Head of Global Logistics & Expedition at Scandinavian Tobacco Group?

As the Head of Global Logistics & Expedition, you will develop and execute an integrated strategy relating to current and future needs of global distribution that delivers low-cost, high-quality solutions and industry-leading flexibility, quality, and customer satisfaction.

  • Design, implement and execute core processes on Fulfillment, Logistics and Warehouse Management, including in country and cross-country deliveries globally
  • Improvements and re-designs of the logistics and distribution network including the warehouse strategy
  • Create the logistic digitalization roadmap, identify key logistic system requirements and ensure adoption in the global template
  • Create real time transparency to logistic flows to all stakeholders, including demand planners, store or country managers and customer service
  • Manage key logistic providers globally coordinating and aligning the in-country teams with Procurement
  • Define the proper logistic organization set up in line with the supply chain transformation roadmap, also recommending in house vs. outsourced models
  • Lead logistics and expedition teams across the globe
  • Set up a continuous improvement approach to logistic operations globally; be responsible for business continuity, including creation of mitigation plans
  • Provide guidelines for logistic operations, identifying the right balance with warehouse activities and simplification needs
  • Design and implement sustainability initiatives and lead the way on driving best in class sustainable operations

What else you can expect?

  • Ensure high safety standards are met in all expedition warehouse locations globally
  • Hire, train, develop, evaluate, coach, and mentor the leadership teams and indirectly all staff within the supply chain expedition warehouse and logistics function
  • Solid line responsibility of Central America/Caribbean, EU, and ROW in warehouse and Logistics with trade management and regulation teams
  • Move toward KPI and budget driven management of (digitized) warehouse and logistics operations and drive demonstrated improvement along various KPI’s over time through process improvements, personnel changes, software changes, etc
  • Develop and maintain a system of data accuracy with Control Tower group for supply chain visibility, including a visibility by internal and external customers to easily answer the common “Where’s my shipment?” question
  • Provide Operations team with consistent level of Transportation support globally to manage ongoing relationships with our international supplier base
  • Assist Procurement in the development, negotiation, and execution of purchase agreements terms
  • Define and track KPI’s for supplier and carrier performance (on-time-delivery, quality, etc), monitor performance against those metrics, and enforce conformance
  • Conduct regular business review supplier and carrier base, with increased frequency for key suppliers and carriers
  • Standardize process for generation, communication, and confirmation of Purchase Orders, deliveries as well as ongoing management of transportation through fulfillment, from the supplier
  • Participate in S&OP function for inventory planning and management; work with sales, SP, and Demand Planning to improve just in time inventory for MTO customers and maintain proper level of inventory at the DC’s, while reducing costs and improving working capital turnover
  • Lead global warehouse footprint optimization initiatives, including expedition and shipment consolidations in strategic locations
  • Proactively monitor the external global marketplace and key cost drivers including: currency exchange rates, freight rates, and more; identify key opportunities in price or alternative suppliers/carriers and achieve the right balance between cost, quality, and reliability
  • Analyze and maintain complex data, create reports, and develop and present clear and concise summaries of recommended options
  • Own our logistics, inbound fulfillment as we grow the business and expand our product lines and suppliers
  • Oversee all finished good expedition to customers and DC’s.
  • Oversee all NTM and Tobacco movements to all Manufacturing facilities worldwide
  • Oversee logistics vendors and reseller relationships, ensuring the quality and timeliness of deliveries
  • Develop effective relationships with Freight Forwarders to secure the most cost-effective ocean and ground transportation rates and ensure execution of all required business outcomes
  • Improve and automate shipping claims, returns, and related processes
  • Manage inventory transportation, taking into consideration lead times
  • Establish a strategy for optimizing transportation efficiency, costs, and service
  • Develop policies to increase efficiency through the supply chain while ensuring quality and safety, implements subsequent changes to processes
  • Assess the need for material-handling equipment and staffing; make recommendations to ensure efficient loading, unloading, movement, and storage of materials
  • Insure compliance with all trade management and customs requirements on movements of goods around the globe

Your areas of knowledge and expertise (that matter the most for this role):

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations, logistics, business administration, transportation, or engineering
  • 10+ years of broad logistics and supply management in logistics, warehouse, or transportation operations
  • Firm grasp and multi lane experience of supply chain, manufacturing, planning, inventory, distribution, business, and management principles
  • Strong team player
  • Ability to manage, coach, and provide training for direct and indirect reports
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of logistics and inventory software (WMS knowledge with experience in automated conveyers/sorters and SAP knowledge is a plus)
  • Experience with both Union and non-Union workforce a plus
  • Fluent Spanish is a big plus
