About the role
As Director Production & Technics, you will be responsible for ensuring a streamlined production at Convatec’s advanced, high volume manufacturing site in Osted, Denmark. You will be leading the production as well as overseeing and enhancing the production process to align with current company strategy and taking charge of leadership within the team of leaders.
The Production & Technics organisation consists of 250+ production employees and 25 technicians in 6 different teams, each led by a team leader and operating 24/7. The team leaders have the day-to-day operational responsibility and line management, and you should therefore be a champion in leading leaders. You will be reporting directly to the Senior Director for Operations, located in Denmark, and be a part of the operations management team. You will have colleagues and stakeholders from sites in other parts of the world.
Your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Drive change management across production employees and technicians to ensure ‘one team’ and ‘one direction’.
- Create and implement a more transparent framework for performance KPI reports for the production.
- Lead the leaders and ensure there is a common agenda when it comes to best practices in all aspects.
- Ensure that the 6 teams are motivated to perform at their best and that employees are motivated to work for Convatec and at the same time nurture a culture for talents.
- Take the overall strategy and ensure it is implemented by using best practices and KPI measurements. This could include capacity expansion, automation etc.
- Regularly present results and performance KPIs as well as initiatives for continuous improvements.
- Ensure sufficient, qualified, and motivated employees in the production.
- Continuous Improvement of the workflow and the work routines of the teams.
- Ensure optimal utilization of available resources in such a way that plans, quality requirements, and budgets are observed in accordance with the objectives and policies.
To succeed in the role
To excel in the role, you thrive in the day-to-day operations of line management while also making valuable contributions to our long-term strategic development, which will ultimately elevate production at Convatec to new heights. You have a proven track record of effectively driving change management and ensuring alignment among team members.
Furthermore, your approach to tasks is highly organized, and you possess a wide-ranging skill set for overseeing a production involving various lines. You have a strong command of numbers and data, understanding their significance in monitoring progress and making necessary adjustments if we deviate from our agreed-upon targets.
As a leader, you are visible and accessible. You create followership by setting clear goals, inspiring others, and fostering growth in organisation. Your ambition is unwavering, and you take full ownership of your responsibilities. You excel in problem-solving and can handle a high level of activity with a consistently positive attitude.
Experience, knowledge and background
- 5+ years’ experience from a similar position. It is not important exactly from which industry, but we expect you to have experience with high-volume, 24/7 production environments.
- Extensive leadership experience is required, especially leading through leaders.
- Experience with change management and creating a shared direction is essential to succeed in the role.
- Any experience with creating transparent reporting frameworks, e.g., using Power BI, is highly relevant.
- Knowledge of the LEAN and LEAN Six Sigma
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Danish and in English.
- Preferably knowledge of basic quality requirements, it is an advantage if you know: FDA QSR, GMP and ISO 13485 or similar.
