The role of the Lead Product Owner


The Lead Technical Product Owner is responsible for ensuring our engineering teams are delivering products that meets our customers' requirements and are stable, reliable, and scalable. You will manage a team of Product Owners responsible for developing and driving Maersk’s technology infrastructure products. As a Lead Product Owner in Maersk’s TSE team, you will manage product strategy and roadmap by partnering with cross-functional teams to define and deliver infrastructure products and services with a great product experience for our internal customers

You will form relationships with our customer base to ensure their feedback is being integrated into product roadmaps and feature work, while balancing these requirements with the internal needs of the team.

In addition, participating in product road mapping and backlog grooming sessions to ensure product teams remained focused on delivering the best product will be an essential responsibility. With all of Maersk’s employees and engineers using our products on a day-to-day basis, this job will have a high degree of visibility into our engineering organization. Key Responsibilities


  • Customer centric: Capturing and understanding voice of business/customers and user requirements in-depth
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders to ensure products are being built and delivered to meet customer demands.
  • End to end product management at speed – defining product vision, creating product roadmap, product implementation, delivery, performance testing, and benefit realization
  • Lead collaboration with engineering, legal, UX, and other product teams on cutting-edge technologies.
  • Set, prioritize, and evaluate the work generated by a group of product owners to ensure overall delivery of best-in-class technical infrastructure products at speed
  • Balance feature requests, tech debt, architectural changes in a prioritized backlog to direct engineering teams to create the best product.
  • Subject matter expertise to work effectively across the Maersk Technology organization to field questions and feedback on how products are or are not meeting the demands of the customer base.
  • Work with engineering teams to ensure prioritization of all aspects of the product, including managing the prioritization of the backlog.
  • Act as a key stakeholder in all agile practices.

Key Skills


  • 12 years of experience in software engineering and/or product management for technical products
  • 5 years of experience in people management, including experience in technical leadership
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with and influencing across a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to deconstruct information into smaller categories to draw conclusions and leverage complex data to support decision making
  • Understands distributed systems and modern application development practices.
  • Understands iterative approach to development, incremental improvements over big releases.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate to diverse types of stakeholders (leadership, engineering teams, internal development teams)
  • Deep understanding of scrum and agile software development methodologies.
  • Experience with making and justifying decisions in an enterprise environment.
