You will be part of the Transported by Maersk Platform focused on streamlining, optimizing, and automating our transportation network end-2-end via advanced software solutions.
You will be joining the network design and optimization platform and your responsibility will be to coach, direct and manage a team of decision scientists, data scientists and software engineers building complex optimization engines for a large scale multimodal network. You will be a driving force in delivering high performance algorithms for optimization at scale with all the fun technical challenges in making a fast, scalable algorithm suggesting great network designs. As a person you have experience and enthusiasm for AI at scale combining decision science (operations research) and data science into great new technology. You are interested in building and driving a high performance team understanding group dynamics, psychological safety and driving a growth mindset in the team. You want to keep hands on technology to ensure high quality of code to maintain performance, maintainability and possibility of continuous expansion of the optimization tools.
You will be part of a strong decision and data science community working together with multiple engineering teams in building end- 2- end applications
You will be working closely with business stakeholders to make sure the tools you build fit into the business processes to enable smarter decisions and to embed core decision support tools into modern cloud-based software products supporting our business in planning and executing our global network.
Key responsibilities
- Build, direct and enable a high performing team through great people leadership skills.
- Engage business and technology stakeholders with data and metrics to identify and drive initiatives that deliver business and societal value through superior reliability, reduced carbon emissions and cost efficient network designs.
- Deliver custom implemented models and algorithms together with the team.
- Work closely with interdependent Engineering Managers to produce required design specifications to enable high performance end-2-end solutions that meets business needs and decision processes.
- Working with Product Managers to continuously deliver on the product backlog while influencing product roadmap with opportunities to deliver business value with advanced algorithms.
- Continuously work with the team and product managers to manage technical debt and technology trade-offs to deliver flexible, high quality production code for the optimization engines.
- Introduce robust optimization techniques in the volatile world of global supply chains.
- Continuously stay up-to-date on relevant technologies and use this knowledge to push the team forward.
We are looking for
- High interest in engineering, mathematics, or computer science with a good understanding of advanced algorithms and computational performance. Familiarity and experience with heuristics, mathematical modelling and machine learning is a plus.
- A great people leader with a proactive growth mindset
- Experience with Python, C++, or C# to contribute to development by mentoring, coaching and code reviewing with the team in a git workflow
- An expert in agile workflows adapted to development of advanced algorithms
- A person comfortable with brainstorming and idea generation
- An interest in driving business outcomes through technology
- Experience with machine learning, optimization under uncertainty and the business domain of shipping is an advantage
