We, in Group Tax, are seeking an experienced indirect tax manager with focus on systems, among others SAP S4/Hana and our external tax engine. You will be a part of our indirect tax/System (ITX/Systems) department reporting to the Lead of ITX/Systems. We are currently 9 employees located in Denmark (Copenhagen), The Netherlands (the Hague) and the UK (Remote position).
ITX/systems is a dynamic and newly created team with a non-hierarchical structure and a highly agile way of working.

Key Responsibilities:
You will be a part of the Maersk ITX/System team where you will contribute and take lead in capturing and embed tax business and legal requirements in our technical solutions (SAP S4/Hana; Tax engine and various other systems). You will work together with the New Finance and Tax Platform Team (solution design and technical implementation of SAP S4/Hana), rest of the tax team and external advisors. Only with close cooperation we will meet our high ambition of automating all the indirect tax processes end to end.
Your day-to-day activities and priorities include amongst other:
- Gathering, structuring, and reviewing indirect tax related business requirements across our different business areas
- Gathering, structuring, and reviewing indirect tax related legal requirements across all countries related to each phase of implementation
- Collaborate and take lead in discussions with other teams within Finance, Commercial, Procurement and Operations to provide tax input and ensure indirect tax requirements are also captured within their areas to keep an end-to-end perspective. As indirect taxes are transactional based taxes, it is crucial to have a broad understanding of VAT relevant elements in business processes across all of Maersk.
- Review tests results ensuring that indirect tax requirements are correctly implemented in the systems implemented.
- Provide training to users in new functionalities and processes
- Drive continuous improvements
We are looking for:
The successful candidate will have a relevant academic degree combined with at least extensive experience advising on VAT in a tax consultancy firm, in-house tax department or tax authorities. Furthermore you have been involved in larger projects with system focus.
You:
- Have experience with or an interest in ERP system setup and the impact on indirect taxes in system roll outs
- Have experience with VAT legislation in a global context
- Skilled and enjoying coaching of younger team members
- Are a strong communicator. Your English is excellent in speech and writing
- Possess effective project management and task prioritization skills including thorough decision-making skills
- Structured, highly analytical, and detail-oriented personality
- Experienced within finance and/or tax processes, risk management and controls
You are a resilient team player who is goal-orientated and demonstrates a high level of commitment with the ability to work in team but also independently.
Location:
Copenhagen, The Hague, or a fully remote position (if you already are working with such an arrangement).
