The position We are looking for a laboratory-based Associate Scientist/Laboratory Technician who is ready to take on a position to support our efforts to progress stem cell-based therapies towards clinical development, focused primarily on type 1 diabetes, chronic heart failure, and Parkinson’s disease. Your focus will be on generating in vitro and in vivo proof-of-concept data to support development of genome modified, hypoimmunogenic allogeneic cell therapy products. Qualifications For Associate Scientist level position, you need to have a M.S. in immunology, developmental/stem cell biology, molecular biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, or any other related field and preferably 2+ years’ experience (stellar recent graduates are welcomed as well). Applicants with an education as laboratory technician and previous experience working with immune cell-based assays will be considered for a Laboratory Technician level position. To be considered for this position you have: Sound knowledge of human immunology, including development and optimization of cellular immunology co-culture assays
Experience with flow cytometry, cytokine assays, and RT-qPCR
Experience with antibody / bead-based cell selection systems (FACS/MACS)
Experience in working with primary human blood samples
Familiarity with assay development and optimization and experience with mouse and larger animal models for human cell therapy engraftment studies would be a plus

About the department The Department of Cell Engineering is a dynamic, technology driven department, part of Cell Therapy R&D, a Transformational Research Unit (TRU) within Novo Nordisk. The TRU is unique in the sense that it covers the full R&D value chain, which means we function as an integrated unit, spanning from early research to GMP manufacturing and clinical development in the same organization. Our department is part of the Research organization based in Måløv, Denmark and we are experts in stem cell culture, genome editing, differentiation, characterization, and both in vitro and in vivo functional assessment.
