Are you a globally minded leader with a solid a background in kidney disease and physiology? Do you wish to be part of our innovative Research and Early Development department to promote high levels of innovation? If yes, then you might be the Director we are looking for to lead our Kidney Biology department. The position As a Director in Kidney Biology department, you will be responsible for leading a team of curious scientists in addressing kidney biology-related questions supporting projects across Cardiometabolic and Rare Diseases (CM&RD). You will be expected to communicate priorities, manage budget needs, provide scientific guidance, lead strategic projects, and drive and support change to improve a complex organization when needed. The Director will have a broad impact on the business, contribute to the development of the functional strategy and apply the R&ED strategy to meet the needs of the growing early pipeline. Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Working collaboratively with scientific directors in CKD, CVD, Diabetes (T1D & T2D), and Rare Disease therapy areas to support project needs
  • Supporting your team in driving target identification, validation and maturation using state-of-the art methodologies and disease knowledge within kidney biology
  • Ensuring scientific rigor in the department's activities, success of line of business support and strong collaboration across R&ED
  • Be accountable for creating a diverse and inclusive team
  • Direct line management of a growing team that supports a global organization
  • Guiding and mentoring scientists and technical staff to support individual development
  • Identifying external opportunities e.g., new technologies, platforms data innovations to support target ID and maturation
  • Qualifications You hold a PhD degree and at least 8 years experience in human physiology and kidney biology and disease (experience in cardiometabolic diseases (T1D, T2D, CVD, etc.) is preferred). To be considered for this position you need to have:
  • Proven leadership track record and a long-track record of internationally recognized excellence in relevant human disease physiology in the cardiometabolic disease.
  • Strong understanding of target validation and maturation
  • Experience of working in a dynamic environment and promoting collaboration and innovative approaches in drug development
  • Experience of managing teams/departments in an academic and/or pharma industry
  • Experienced in people management, mentoring and promote innovative ideas
  • On a personal level, you are result-focused, impactful, and flexible with strong presentation, collaboration and communication skills. You have the ability to overcome challenges, lead experienced professionals and drive innovative ideas to deliver real impact. About the department The kidney biology department is a diverse group of scientists and technicians. The team works collaboratively with other biology and technology departments to support early discovery efforts in CM&RD, and to further our understanding of kidney biology and kidney disease. The team is based in Denmark but works with colleagues around the globe to support projects and collaborations in Global Drug Discovery.
