The position
We offer an exciting and challenging job, where you will generate, share, and discuss research findings with highly experienced and motivated scientists in global multidisciplinary research teams. You will use X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy to elucidate the structures of protein-ligand interactions, and molecular mechanisms of action of our therapeutic approaches. Your expertise in structural biology will be instrumental for structure-based drug design strategies, lead optimization, and securing of intellectual property rights. You will be responsible for applying experimental methods for structure determination and are expected to use a significant part of your time in the laboratory. Application of AI/ML based structure prediction will also be an integral part of the job.
Qualifications The position requires a curiosity-driven mindset combined with the ability to take initiative and utilize synergies beyond areas of own expertise. To succeed in the role, the applicant should possess: A Ph.D. in structural biology and a keen interest in protein interactions and drug discovery. Demonstrated excellent expertise in structure determination of protein-ligand complexes using X-ray crystallography including design of constructs, sample production and characterisation, sample preparation, data collection & processing, and model building. Preferably also experience with cryo-electron microscopy-based structure determination. including sample preparation, data collection & processing, and model building. Advanced software user skills for structure determination and modelling. Experiences with scripting and programming would be a plus. Experience working on projects related to peptide and/or protein-based drug discovery, preferably from the pharmaceutical industry/biotech. As a member of the Structure and Interactions department located within the division of Assay, Analysis and Characterisation in Global Research Technology at Novo Nordisk you´ll be part of a team of 16 highly skilled and supportive laboratory technicians and scientists. Our department plays an important role in identification, optimisation, and characterisation of novel drug candidates in research projects. We provide in -depth insight into the structure-function relationships of our molecules and their interaction partners, enabling projects to make informed decisions when selecting the right drug candidate for further development. As experts, we are passionate about solving scientific and technical challenges through synergistic collaborations.
