Ballerup

Are you an ambitious and impassioned person with a flair for laboratory work?

We are looking for a R&D scientist with a strong laboratory drive for the development of procedures for synthesis of novel therapeutic small molecule API. If you like being part of a very informal and non-hierarchical environment in a company that experiences the most exciting period of development ever, then join process research at LEO Pharma!

To fulfil our goal of becoming the world’s preferred dermatology care partner we have embarked on a new journey with focus on building a small molecule pipeline. When joining Chemical Development as a scientist, you will make your mark on turning this into a success.

Find the best conditions for making our future development candidates
You will join the Chemical Development area consisting of around 30 dedicated scientists and technicians divided in three teams. You will be placed in the Process Research & Development team, which is responsible for route scouting, process development and optimization from early stage to phase III, in strong collaboration with the manufacturing team and others.

As a scientist in this team, your responsibilities will cover:

  • Identification of synthetic routes to API applicable for large scale manufacturing
  • Optimization of synthetic processes and scale-up activities
  • Synthesis of smaller batches of API for pre-clinical trials
  • Process transfer to our colleagues in the manufacturing team
  • Close collaboration with colleagues across the organization e.g., medicinal chemistry and analytical teams
  • Laboratory maintenance and instrumentation super-user tasks

Your new workplace is LEO Pharma’s HQ (and biggest manufacturing site) in Ballerup Copenhagen.

Natural science degree backed with a pharma industry or academia experience
You are a responsible and motivated team player, result-oriented and well organized in your working routines. It is important that you are open-minded and able to drive initiatives on your own, but at the same time also enjoy working together with colleagues. You are an experimentalist and enjoy spending majority of the time in the laboratory solving practical challenges within organic chemistry. You are naturally curious and can come up with new innovative solutions to problems. Being part of an organization in transformation also calls for your ability to thrive in an environment where the only constant is change.

In addition, you possess:

  • A PhD in organic chemistry or equivalent scientific experience
  • Preferably minimum 1-2 years of experience from a pharmaceutical company or academia
  • A proactive and flexible mind-set, and a willingness to support common goals
  • Good practical laboratory skills in organic and process chemistry
  • Strong co-operation and communication skills

About Chemical Development
We have the vision in place, and we believe we have achieved to find just the right balance between in-house ownership/manufacturing and use of external research and manufacturing partners. Our environment is characterized by collaboration, knowledge sharing and a common drive for creating tangible results.
