A position as Clinical Associate Professor (50 %) combined with clinical work as Consultant in Anaesthesiology (50 %) is vacant at The Department of Regional Health Research, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and at The Department of Anaesthesiology, Nykøbing F.Hospital, respectively. The position is limited to minimum 3 years with the possibility of extension.

The research unit

Much of our research is founded on the innovative concept Safe Brain Initiative, which deals with preventing consequences of anaesthesia to patients. Skills in this research field, locally as well as internationally are mandatory.

The hospital

Nykøbing F. Hospital is a middle-sized acute hospital providing care for a population seasonally spanning from 150,000 to 180,000 inhabitants.

Department of Anaesthesiology

The department has six beds for Intensive Care and three beds for Intermediate Care.

Yearly, the department provides anaesthesia for 4-5,000 orthopaedic, paediatric, gynaecologic, obstetric, and primarily day care abdominal surgical procedures. Daily the activity spans from 4-6 operating rooms.

Furthermore, The Department of Anaesthesiology provides general anaesthesia or sedation out of the operating room for radiologic procedures (CT and MRC), DC-conversions, emergencies and ECT.

We also support the Emergency, Paediatric and Internal Medicine Department, when needed.

The academic position

The clinical associate professor will be appointed at The Department of Regional Health Research, Faculty of Health Sciences, SDU. The position will be within Anaesthesiology including intensive care and neurology. Trans-sectional research and collaboration is expected.

The job involves research, professional development, research education, and teaching, including exams, supervision as well as assessment work within your field of speciality.

The clinical position

The consultant will function at The Department of Anaesthesiology, Nykøbing F. Hospital. This particular position is without nightshifts and the consultant will be a part of the team providing daily intensive rounds and/or anaesthetic care at surgical procedures, largely due to preferences and top skills.

  • A PhD or equivalent post-graduate research qualifications in the field of anaesthesiology, documented by publications in international peer-reviewed journals
  • Clinical experience reflecting skills in clinical anaesthesiology and/or intensive care
  • A record of accomplishments in providing research funding will also be included in the assessment of applicants.

Danish language skills are not required initially, but are expected to be mastered at the proficiency level C1, at the Common European Framework of References for Languages within the first 2 years of employment.

The Region of Zealand will provide a teaching programme, supporting the achievement of the required Danish language skills within reasonable time.

Employment in accordance with the agreement between The Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
